I'm confident that we were the first guests at this property. There were several small items that had to be addressed during our stay, and the host company mostly responsive by phone but not email. For example, the listing stated that kayaks were provided but none were on the property upon our arrival however after a call inquiry to the host, they were delivered within 24 hours. There were a few other things that were able to be worked out, again by phone.
Our family is familiar with Smith Mt Lake and this location was pretty good. The house is right on a small cove. The area off the dock is deep enough to jump in and swim, but the area by the stairs leading in is covered in rocks, sticks, and anything else brought in by the tide. Not a big deal but noting this particularly for anyone with little kids that it won't be comfortable walking in the water. The state park is the closest public beach.
Overall, the house was good. It was clean and while there were a few areas where bugs came in by the windows or doors, they were all dead. I'm guessing the property is treated and the number of bugs is normal for any property on the lake. The bedrooms are a good size, and our family found the beds comfortable. There were custom branded toiletries and tchotchkes included and while we understood the intent (hotel feel), they were excessive. We would have much preferred the host company being more mindful of household/kitchen items.
As a whole experience, our family felt that the property was nice and will be better after a few guests have stayed so that the hosts have the chance to get everything settled, provided the house is maintained going through regular use.
