"Not sure what happened to the pool, but when we booked (a few months ago) there was a pool. When we got there, they said they do not have a pool. Absolutely confused as I found the pool but looks like it’s being decommissioned or something. "

"Clean big room. Hotel is well located, walking distance everywhere. Building is historical and beautiful, however hotel outside entrance is a bit scary and run down! But once you walk in to the hotel area is nice. Breakfast is ok, process fresh food. "

"Booked this hotel thru Expedia and got a very good price. It is just around the corner from the Hartford train and bus stations so it's wonderfully convenient. Just a few issues - First, the front door on Asylum Street is locked, with no sign to tell folks to walk around to the side entrance. Second - when we opened the door to our room, we found that IT HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED after the previous guests checked out - bed not made, used towels all over the bathroom (!) The clerk apologized and gave us another room - mistakes are made, but this was so dumb! Third - the bathroom faucets had crud on them (not just tarnish, but some gunk that could have been scrubbed off). Fourth - nice breakfast room, but no packets of half & half for coffee, only those flavored Coffee Mate thingies; there was 2% milk in the fridge for cereal, but this was almost gone; instead of scrambled eggs they had these rubbery egg disks. Despite my 3-star rating, I would still stay at the Capitol because of the convenient location."

"I had wondered about the amenities. the coffee pot was not cleaned , actually had mold in it , and the carpet was lifting at one corner, where i kept tripping on it. I certainly appreciated the rest ! As it was during the turkey holiday and easy to find through downtown Hartford "

"Entered the unit. Started unpacking and found a prescription pill on the carpet. Not sure how that would not have been picked up by the vacuum. There was only one bath towel for two people. Bathroom sink looked like it was just wiped down. The chrome around the drain was dirty and could be wiped off with your finger. The light in the bathroom, although very bright had a thick layer of dust and bugs in it. The shower curtain had orange on the bottom which is mold. It is advertised as a lux boutique. It's more like a college co-op. There were people in the common area cooking early Sunday morning. They were so loud it woke us up. It was so convenient to the arena for the show we were going to, which was great. Blake did offer to move us to another unit but it was three blocks away. We knew we were getting snow that evening so we didn't want to walk further in the snow. "

"Terrible…absolutely terrifying arrival for me… The renter failed to communicate the room number, access code to the room, and/or a useable Wi-Fi connection… I was alone, unable to access my room, and received NO answers when I texted, repeatedly. Again, I texted repeatedly for help. I am 69 years old. Although I texted the “owner” repeatedly for help, I received, NO ANSWER. I was alone, in a strange city, it got dark, and I didn’t have the necessary information needed to access my room. So, I rented a room in a very expensive hotel because I was afraid to sleep on the street. My review is…avoid this VRBO scammer. Find a location where the renter lives in the area/is NOT an absentee landlord, and is honest. RUN, RUN, RUN, !!! What happened to me…I spent hours searching, and eventually found an incredibly expensive hotel for the nights of my stay…because I didn’t want to sleep on the street. Again…avoid this scammer at all costs."
