Royal Esplanade Hotel
8/10 Good
"Location is really good"

The Q Hotel
8/10 Good
"The hotel is lovely and modern, with contemporary furnishings, a nice bar, lovely pool and pleasant garden. My single room was fairly small but fine for a two-night stay. The TV, shower and tea-making facilities were great. The sink was in the bedroom rather than the en-suite shower/toilet, which felt a little incongruous but wasn’t a problem. There wasn’t much space to put things once unpacked. Some coat hooks, a larger bedside table, shelf above the clothes rail or small side table would make a difference. The full-length mirror and décor were lovely. Given the exceptionally hot summer, air conditioning would have been welcome, although the small fan generally did the trick. Breakfast was lovely, nicely cooked and beautifully presented, with cereals, fruit, yoghurt and juices followed by a full English, vegetarian breakfast or mix-and-match. Tea was freshly made and served in a proper pot — gorgeous! It would be even nicer if tea or coffee were offered when seated rather than ordered with breakfast. The lady running the hotel was amazingly friendly and helpful and also looked after breakfast. She did a great job but would benefit from someone helping take orders and reset tables. The hotel generally seemed a little short-staffed, with the bar and reception sometimes unattended. Wonderful location, around five minutes from both beach and town. Overall, a lovely, welcoming hotel that I really enjoyed staying at."

Albion Hotel

"Hotel had a lovely view over the bay."

Beautiful converted 17th century stone stable in the heart of the Isle of Wight
10/10 Excellent
"Amazing place to stay to explore the island. Sally and Sue the hosts are really warm and welcoming when we arrived, and the outdoor space to play football was lovely for my son. The cottage is accurate to the photos, and the beds were really comfy. It is a gem of a place lovely a quiet but then great location to explore the island - perfect in every way. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay!"

The Ocean View Hotel
8/10 Good
"Property is old but very close to the Shanklin beach. Rooms initially provided were not clean but Manjot on the reception desk helped immediately to change our rooms. We unfortunately got the road facing rooms though we were hoping for sea view (as hotel name suggests) but informed that it needs to be mentioned in the request. And biggest disappointment: POOL WAS NOT OPERATIONAL."

The Royal Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The Royal is an old hotel in a historic building, so fuĺl of charcter and charm. There is a lift but I then had to go down some three steps then a full flight to get to my room. Anyone with mobility issues might want to check. The single room and bathroom were spacious and as a single traveller I felt welcone. Staff generally very good. Breakfast choices excellent. Lovely location and gardens. Would recommend."

New Holmwood Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"We recently stayed as a group at the Holmwood, and we all had a lovely stay! we found the beds to be very comfortable. Staff were fantastic, the hotel was very clean and they had provided extra fans to keep rooms cool and The rooms were spacious, however some of the bathrooms dated as well as corridors etc of the hotel. Breakfast was good. It was in a fantastic location on the sea front, with a terrace overlooking, yes there’s no bar, however town is a short walk away! If you wish to have a no frills comfortable stay, this is for you."

Prince of Wales
10/10 Excellent
"Room was clean, and windows were excellently glazed to prevent any traffic noise from the streets. Very convenient with the bus stop right outside to get to the ferry as well as Newport/anywhere else on the isle. Osbourne house right across the street. food options were limited around the pub, but the floating bridge to Cowes conveniently down the road by either a 20 min walk or the bus."

Paws a While! caravan with uninterrupted views of Solent and direct beach access
10/10 Excellent
"This may be the best-equipped rental I have stayed in. The highlight was the view from the deck! Absolutely beautiful. Comfy beds, good shower, everything you need. The location feels very private despite being in a holiday park. Was quite close to playground and entertainment centre but wasn’t noisy at night at all (nor the day actually). One shower and two toilets. Four adults was probably max. There are a couple of fans but even though it was 30 degrees one day we didn’t need them as it cools down with windows open. Very thoughtful and generous welcome pack with milk, juice, fruit, cake, biscuits. Everything was exactly as listed. Area: You definitely need a car as nothing else in the area, but it’s a short walk to the beach. There’s a shop, ice cream shop and a chippy, as well as pub grub. The food was good as was the service although ambience a bit rough and ready. We didn’t use the pool so can’t comment on that."
