"We were very happy with the accommodations at High Frontier. The bunkroom was spacious and well stocked. The outdoor scenery was fantastic. We spent the first night staring into the dark skies looking at the stars. The location is close to Fort Davis, Marfa and Alpine (within 25 miles). A great place to be "home base" for the area. We definitely recommend for your next vacation spot."

"The hotel is in complete disrepair. My room was clean but had holes in the walls, a door lock that barely functioned and would fall off if hit reasonably hard I never had maid service in the 5 days I was there. The woman at the front desk did not speak English and I don’t think she spoke Spanish either. It took the second day to figure out the plumbing was reversed, the hot water was on the right side in the shower instead of the left. I will not be staying there again. Fortunately my time in the Alpine area and Big Bend kept me busy and the time at the hotel was minimal. "

"Do not let the pictures fool you! I stayed for 8 days and had to leave for a job site at 8 am. Because the office wasn’t open until 9 am, and the hanging card to request maid service was missing it wasn’t until the 3rd day that I was able to get to the office to request a tag and tell the manager about the conditions below. Pros Low rate New appliances. Cons Dust and dirt on floors, walls, entry door, and walls. Thorns in rugs. Toe or fingernail clippings were on the room floor when I arrived. After maid service, some grime on the floor, the pubic hair that was embedded in urine around the toilet, a dirt on the entry door and blinds that were all present when I arrived, still remained. WiFi was so slow that photos in web pages took minutes to load. I am a person who doesn’t get upset when things aren’t spic and span, and my partner is almost as forgiving as I am. I was relieved that she wasn’t with me. Lastly, my stay was from Monday before Easter through the following Monday. Only a small fraction of the cottages had vehicles present on any given day, so there was plenty of time for my unit to be properly cleaned. "
