Aloha, thank you for staying with us and your feedback. We actually didn’t have AC at the time you booked our home. We installed it after you’d already booked, and we thought it would be a nice surprise once you arrived. It’s a brand new split system 24,000 BTU AC system in the living room that is only meant to cool the living room and kitchen areas, not the bedroom (the bedroom has a ceiling fan to keep it cool while you sleep). After the installation, we made sure to update our listing and ensure there was a clear note about this in the description section. Our complex is in charge of the pest control and does a great job of having a technician spray the inside of our condo monthly with an eco friendly spray. I can assure you there were no biting bugs inside our condo. Perhaps this could’ve been a result of an excursion you’d taken or just general mosquito bits from being outside? Being a tropical island and one that gets quite a bit of rain, there are mosquitos at night and bites do happen if you don’t have repellent. Our guests before and after your stay never mentioned bug issues either. Also, when I checked in during the middle of your stay, you never mentioned any issues? Additionally, as part of our cleaner’s routine and because the sofa couch is often used as a bed, the cleaner opens the sofa couch to clean under it, clean/replace the linens, and vacuum the cushions.

Aloha Hillary, Thank you for your review, and glad to hear you enjoyed your stay overall. As we’re located on a tropical island, we will get some bugs from time-to-time. The HOA/Complex manages pest control and has a regular maintenance schedule to ensure we try and keep the bugs away. If we’d known you had issues during your stay, we could’ve notified the HOA and had the pest company treat the condo. In regards to the gap in the door, there is a small gap by design. Since Kauai gets amazing breezes, the gap in the door allows for the airflow to circulate throughout the condo when you open the sliding doors. If there wasn’t a gap, you’d essentially get all of the wind trapped inside the unit as opposed to a flowing breeze. As for the beach in front, I haven’t seen this as being an issue when I’ve been on island. We are in the center of Kapa’a which is close to shops and restaurants, and the beach in front of the complex is a public beach, so there are plenty of people (locals and tourists alike) that walk along the bike trail or spend time lounging at the beach. In regards to the construction, you’ll also notice quite a bit of traffic during peak hours in general (with or without construction). This is because the island has a 1-2 lane highway that gets easily backed up. I’m assuming the construction you’re referring to is the highway widening project which spans across a good stretch of the highway. The expansion should alleviate some of the traffic once it’s completed. Thanks again for booking our condo!
