“The location is right at the beach, beautiful gardens and from the room’s balcony you have a fantastic view of the ocean and coconut trees. The staff are amazing, professional, friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and well prepared. However, this place has poor maintenance. Rooms are moldy and smell stuffy with a dirty seat, the beddings are not very clean and the mosquito nets have blood stains (from squishing the mosquitoes) bathrooms are rusty. There is serious need of repairs and……

“I have stayed at the Serena several times over the past 20 years. In fact, of the 80 countries I have visited the Serena in Mombasa is still my favorite place in the world. The staff, including front dest staff (namely, Althuman) and the wait staff are outstanding. Many are long-term staff who have obviously been well-trained in customer service. The Maisha Spa is always worth a visit. The property is beginning to show signs of aging so I hope there are plans to upgrade it, while not loosing its……
