Destination Residences helped us by finding another unit and while enjoyed our stay in the new unit, it was much further from the beach which was hard on us as I have bad knee, my husband has a bad back and the walk to the beach was up and down hill. The same going to the swimming pool that was open. Owners shouldn’t cancel so close to the arrival day. The rating given above doesn’t reflect the property listed since we were unable to stay in the original location.

On the plus side Makena Surf is hands down the best property to stay on Maui. Have stayed several times at this property. This particular unit has great views of the small beach on south side of complex. Deck on plus side has a propane grill, not all do and grilling in bad light and up and down stairs is a hassle. Bad side of deck is it does not have a table and chairs so 4 people can dine outside witch for most people visiting Maui is there preference. Kitchen needs improvement in cookware, cutlery, glassware, etc.....disappointing considering less than one days rent would get it where it needs to be. My wife drove up to Target near airport to get some glasses for cocktails. Master bed was very firm for my taste so mattress topper may be a nice option. Destination Resorts property management was great. With addressing the aforementioned issues I’d give the property a 5

It is a beautiful area! So convenient and the beaches are lovely. Nice quiet spot and short drive to restaurants
