Slapton Sands calm waters are a favourite for swimming, paddle boarding and windsurfing. A narrow shingle bar separates the beach from Slapton Ley, a large freshwater lake. Ideal for exploring the flora, fauna and birdwatchers.

Day trips from Upper Carlane Court can include sightseeing in Dartmouth, a historic naval town with excellent shops, restaurants, busy harbour and steam railway. Alternatively visit Kingsbridge a lovely town along an estuary with great shops for purchasing local produce. Dartmoor National Park is within easy reach together with The English Riviera which includes beaches in Brixham, Paigton and Torquay.
