Very Disappointed - NEVER AGAIN - HOTELS HERE WE COME. NO MORE PRIVATE PROPERTY BOOKINGS!!!!!
The property that was advertised and which we viewed and booked from January 26 was not the one that was assigned to us. We got a substandard apartment which we refused to stay at and DID NOT!!!.
While checking through Customs at the airport, we had to call the host to get the complete address even though we had made this request twice before. It was then she informed us that we will not be staying at the apartment we booked and that the address is 20 Wellington Dr because of some plumbing issues. Disappointed, but hoping that this place was just as the one we had booked and viewed. On arrival, we were very disappointed and called the host and expressed that to her and told her we will still stay there while the plumbing repairs are going on. She refused. My husband and I decided to go searching for apartments/hotels on our own. This is, of course, after travelling so we were very tired. Someone at the complex (31 Wellington Drive) told us to try 20 Wellington Drive, as that complex is more sophisticated. We arrived there ask the security if there might be any vacant apartment we could rent for 5 days. He said "yes, we have vacant apartments, let me make a call". He did - then returned and told us there are no apartments available. I said, "but you just told us vacant apartments are here. Did you just speak with Lorraine?" He said, "yes".
His facial expressions changed as if to say, what the hell did I get myself involved with. We told him everything what the host did including that we had booked an apartment there and she told us there was a plumbing problem there so we cannot stay. At this point, he stopped talking to us and appeared nervous. We left - send the host a text letting her know that we will not be staying at the apartment at 31 Wellington Drive and we needed a full refund.
She did not respond to us. We subsequently found a small hotel which we loved and had a pleasure staying at. She had not responded to our text so we had to call Vrbo and while talking with the associate he told us to hold the line he will connect us to her. So we expressed our dissatisfaction and requested a full refund again which she refused. The host was actually blaming us for being unreasonable. The apartment was, in our view, very substandard when compared to the one we had viewed - in a very isolated area, no ambiance and seems like it was locked up for quite some time. Unfortunately too, Vrbo could not help us with the refund. DISAPPOINTED!!!!!
