We stayed for 5 nights and loved the location as it was quiet but close enough to drive to La Fortuna and to activities. It was very quiet all the time, which is exactly what we were looking for. The grounds are absolutely beautiful with a view of the volcano too. Not all the hot springs were open and not sure why but the ones that were, were so great. We enjoyed them in the day and after dinner. The pool was refreshing! The breakfast buffet was pretty good and had quite a few vegan options. We did have to ask for soy milk daily but we were glad they had it. We bought some granola at the grocery store and had it with the other items available.
We had a superior room and feel this is where the hotel is not doing so great. The rooms are old and tired and really need updated, especially the bathrooms. The chairs on our deck were mouldy and really unusable. The rooms smell musty and are always damp, which isn’t really that surprising since it’s a rainforest but I think some extra cleaning and closing gaps in the doors and windows to outside could help with the dampness and also the bugs. The staff were friendly and always helpful. Overall, our stay was good but we wouldn’t stay here again, especially for how expensive it was.
