For a one-night stay, it's not bad for the price you're paying. I stayed on the top level, and it was very noisy due to streetcars, and the showers were very small. Overall, it was a quick night.

The property's location is superb, but even considering it, the place is pricier than it should be, as the building is old and not particularly well maintained. The staff is friendly and tries to be helpful, but the bathrooms collapsed during our stay, and we had to move to another hotel.
Condition of hotel was poor.
I unlocked my room and the handle came off.

This hotel is located in a very location close to The Strand and theatre district. Whilst it is old, there is lots of steps and maybe some of the areas have seen better days for the price you cannot fault it. I have stayed here a couple of times now and I would again. I sleep well when im away but if you are distrubed by people chatting, thin walls and doors being banged this probably isn't the place for you. Im shocked people complain though about this hotel considering its location and value for money.

Brilliant location, not perfect but cheap.
Although I accept that you get what you pay for there were a few things that I thought should be fixed. There was a tap in the bathroom that was broken, there were many tiles that were broken, a door to the bath that wouldn't open fully and made access difficult. As for the bedroom, I had a pillow that appeared to have a spot of blood on it. The rest of the stay was generally ok and just gave me a place to lay my head.
HOSTEL - NOT a hotel. No amenities. No WiFi except for in the tiny office area. Paper-thin walls, loud slamming doors on rooms, squeaking springs/hinges, etc. SO LOUD. Decaying shower and toilet rooms. Tiny rooms with no lamps and broken everything. No mattress covers (gross); lumpy, weird mattresses and pillows (only 1). Windows thin and barely functioning, curtains old and falling apart. Everything pretty unpleasant and cheap and old. IF you are fine with a funky youth hostel, and you can sleep through anything, then cool! If not, pay the extra £50 to stay elsewhere. I don’t know how they get away with being classified as a “2-star hotel”. The small Indian restaurant seems really popular = the only place that anyone is enjoying themselves in this building. Good thing: Hostel staff were nice.
We recently stayed at the Strand Continental Hotel from 18th to 23rd August, and I must say our experience was incredibly disappointing. Here's a summary of the significant problems we faced:
Misleading Information: We were led to believe that this was a family-friendly hotel, but it was actually a hostel with conditions entirely unsuitable for family accommodation.
Structural Issues: We encountered damaged doors, windows, locks, floors, and a narrow staircase. There was no option to stay on a lower floor, despite no elevator.
Hygiene Concerns: Mold in the bathroom, a clogged and smelly toilet, unpleasant cigarette odor, and unclean mattresses and blankets made our stay very uncomfortable.
Ventilation Problems: The room was unbearably warm due to poor ventilation, and the bathroom was damp and stuffy.
Unprofessional Staff Behavior: Invasive housekeeping and inappropriate staff appearance were concerning.
Equipment Malfunctions: Broken bathroom fixtures, lighting, and insufficient storage space were more headaches during our stay.
Miscellaneous Issues: Limited WiFi, loud restaurant noise, and unsightly bags outside the room further added to our discontent.
We had asked for relocation or a refund but were offered no satisfactory solution. Our stay was filled with inconveniences that went far beyond minor issues. I strongly advise against choosing this place, especially for families looking for comfort and basic amenities.

7. Ich dachte Expedia weiß was es anbietet!!

The best thing about this property is the location. A mere stones throw from most attractions BUT the question is would i stay again and honest answer is no. I understood its a hostel but the condition of the property is in dire need of a lot of TLC . We had no heating, not hot water, tbh the tap barely worked at all. The mattress was aweful as was the door slamming all through the night. Reception was friendly and were accommodating but that was it. Id suggest getting a room at the back of the property to avoid street noise.
