Don’t stay here. This property is definitely not 4 star. Three star at best. From the outside it looks very much the country house hotel and promises so much that it just doesn’t deliver. Once through the entrance doors that feel good from the outside evaporates. It cries out for refurbishing; is tired and run down with worn out stained carpets and poor decor. The gym and pool changing areas were worse than municipal baths and the pool itself rather drab. We felt it safer for our health not to use it. The bar and restaurant were uninspiring and not somewhere you’d wish to spend much time. The restaurant menu had limited choices of a couple of Indian main courses or basic pub fayre. The food was bland but at least palatable. Breakfast was not worth the extra charge. The only fresh fruit was watermelon and pineapple or the oranges being used to make juice. Cold and hot buffet choices were limited and some of the food looked like it had been there for days. Our room on the first floor was on the route to the pool and gym. The corridor had an overpowering smell of chlorine which thankfully at least didn’t invade the bedroom. The room was small and although the decor was okay the wardrobe and cupboard doors looked about 50 years old and tatty. Tv was limited to freeview with no internet options or ability to cast. Shower was not hot only warm. Complained but nothing done about it. Suspect thermostat was turned down to save money. Staff at least were pleasant if not very helpful.
