Al Moudira Hotel

"I rarely leave negative reviews, and in fact I have only left one negative review previously, but due to the sanitary concerns involved, I feel obligated to mention this experience. During my stay at Al Moudira Hotel, food trays and partially consumed drinks from a neighboring room were left directly outside my door and beneath my window on multiple occasions in approximately 108°F heat. On the day of my checkout, the items had remained there overnight for roughly 16 hours, attracting flies and creating an unsanitary environment immediately outside the room. That was the point at which I finally reported the issue. I then waited approximately 40 minutes to speak with a manager, but the response felt dismissive and lacking urgency. What disappointed me most was not a single forgotten tray, but the apparent lack of attention given to a basic sanitation concern at a property that presents itself as a luxury experience. The hotel itself is visually beautiful and unique, but the handling of this situation fell far below expectations. PS On a previous occasion, before I thought to document it with a photo, an entire meal for two had also been left there for an extended period of time in 108°F heat."
Royal Mountain Hotel

"I would highly recommend this hotel. The manager was there, to personally greet me and to ensure I had arrived safely. My luggage was taken directly to my room which was very clean and spacious. I had a beautiful view across the desert, watching the sun rise and set and seeing the hot air balloons was amazing. I would definitely stay here again. The hotel and the staff were so friendly, kind and hospitable."
Iberotel Luxor by JAZ

"When I arrived at the Iberotel, I did not like much what I experienced. My room was smaller than I thought it would be, with no desk to do some work. To get to the room, I had to go through a hallway with a strong smell of cigarette smoking. In addition, the room and the hotel looking dated. After staying there one night, my opinion changed once I got to experience more of the hotel. The hotel is well-located, near many restaurants. The breakfast spread was very good. I had a comfortable sleep and the smell of smoke in the hallway was gone for the remaining of my stay. The staff was genuinely helpful when I needed a place to work in the middle of the night that could maintain a good internet connection (Internet was solid in the room but I needed it to be flawless). Plus, the pool and garden areas are amazing. Swimming in the pool to the side of the Nile is just cool. So, I would go back here again and recommend to my friends."

"Clean room. Close to some tourist attractions. Since it's very hot in Luxor, some food items on their breakfast need to be refrigerated like yogurt, cheese, etc. to avoid spoilage. Just be careful of anything you eat to avoid stomach issues. Staff very helpful. Good hotel for those on budget."
Steigenberger Resort Achti

"One thing I would strongly suggest to the hotel management is addressing the issue with the horse drawn buggies and the taxi drivers waiting outside the property. Unfortunately, having a gate is not enough when, the moment you step outside, they immediately approach you, pressure you, and aggressively try to force you to use their services instead of apps like inDrive. The hotel should work with the tourist police to remove these individuals from the street leading to the hotel entrance. Tourists should be able to walk freely or order an inDrive without being harassed. At one point, I even witnessed two taxi drivers verbally confronting an inDrive driver for picking up a couple, as if they owned the entire area. We stayed at the Steigenberger Resort Achti and walked several times to dine at the Steigenberger Nile Palace, which is only about 0.8 miles away. However, because of the intense heat, we often had to use inDrive, which cost around 50 Egyptian pounds each way. At one point, the taxi drivers pressured us so much that we almost got into one of their taxis. When I asked for the price, the driver quoted 500 Egyptian pounds for the same ride. This is exactly why traditional taxi drivers are losing business and why services like inDrive are becoming more popular. Unless they start being honest and charging fair prices, they will continue to lose customers."
Jolie Ville Hotel & Spa Kings Island Luxor

"expect OK receptionist but all staff are rude and racist and don’t want to work. The way my mother was treated, absolutely unacceptable. What I mean by they don’t want to work. I was turned away from two separate restaurants on property claiming you needed a reservation when there was clearly open tables. I walked out and found a manger. She follows up with, “we’re not busy enough right now to need reservations”. Very unfortunate and comfy feel that I ever had to deal with that."

"Hotel was nice but huge event in our last night outside our window kept us awake until after midnight. Hotel said they would credit our last night through Expedia but at this stage we have not seen any refund. We suspect they lied about the refund so we would not make a scene when leaving."

"This hotel is atrocious. The positive reviews on Expedia are fraudulent. The entire hotel (our room included) smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The towels and bedding are stained brown. The AC barely works and the WiFi is nonexistent. The food was terrible. cold, stale, and bland. I’m a seasoned, international traveler. This hotel is much worse than an $11 hotel room in Vegas."
