「The location of the cottage is excellent, right next to the river Esk and on a very quiet holiday park (in April anyway). There is an amazing viaduct over the river where there is bungy jumping every couple of weeks during the summer and you can walk over it into Whitby which is only 30 mins away on foot. The pool is NOT 24 hrs as advertised and you have to pay. The property can be a bit difficult to find because the name plaque of the plot is covered by an overgrown hydrangea. If you use what 3...
「The Royal is very old I know, but it seems nothing has been done to maintain it and so is very outdated. It appears very poorly maintained and there was dust in all corners of the room, water stain marks on thr wallpaper, broken windows with defective safety latches. The staff were fine to talk too however there etiquette was poor, dress standards let them down even further. This place needs a whole lot of investment to bring it to today's standards.」
「We stayed in room 314 and our room was spotless apart from window not staying open.
Spa was good although jacuzzi broke on 2 days which was disappointing.
Breakfast was nice although a little cold and tea/coffee machine not working but we asked for tea in a pot which came straight away
Enjoyed our stay apart from seagulls early morning squawking」
「After reading review I was dubious about our stay, we booked a family room for 2 adults and 2 teens, we paid a bargain price of £69 for the night i assumed cheap would mean the worst room but I was so wrong we had a spacious beautiful room with the best view of the sea and coast line the hotel its self is historical and beautiful, absolutely loved our stay my only slight complain would be the mattress it wasn't comfortable other than that I would recommend this hotel and will use again.」
