Experience a simpler time in one of Wythe County’s oldest standing structures. Built circa 1850 from rare, hand-hewn American Chestnut logs, this lovingly preserved historic cabin blends old-world romance with modern luxury.
We have just completed an extensive, top-to-bottom spring cleaning, and the cabin is completely refreshed and sparkling for your summer getaway! Updates include brand-new, comfortable living room furniture, featuring a cozy loveseat and a plush, oversized recliner perfect for sinking into after a day of adventure.
Nestled right off Rt. 52 and I-77 with effortless, flat access (no winding, tricky mountain roads!), your worry-free mountain escape begins the moment you arrive with easy self-check-in. And just like that old TV ad promised, we’ll leave the light on for you.
Inside the Refreshed Cabin
• The Living Room: Unwind in our brand-new, premium furniture. Put your feet up in the plush, oversized recliner or curl up on the cozy new loveseat by the warm glow of the remote-controlled gas logs in the original stone fireplace. Features a 43” HD flat-screen TV with DirecTV and complimentary Wi-Fi.
• The Modern Kitchen: Fully equipped with a full-size electric range, refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, cookware, and a large eat-in table. We provide coffee supplies for your first morning, basic seasonings, sugar, and creamer.
• The Bedroom Suite (Upstairs): A romantic oasis featuring exposed chestnut logs, a pillow-topped queen bed dressed in luxury linens, a large walk-in closet, and a 43" HD flat-screen TV. Fall asleep to the magical sound of a summer rain shower on the classic metal roof.
• Accessibility & Pet Note:
Our cozy second-floor bedroom is accessed by a steep set of stairs .However, there are dual handrails for your convenience. Because his cabin originally used a ladder to reach the loft, the current staircase is steeper than modern stairs. We recommend caution for guests with limited mobility, knee issues, or senior dogs who struggle with steep steps. If you or your furry companion prefer easy access, please keep this unique feature in mind when booking.
• Bathrooms & Laundry: A convenient half-bath is located just off the kitchen, an upstairs full bathroom features a tub/shower combo with plush towels, and a main-floor LG washer/dryer is fully stocked with detergent pods.
• Summer Comfort: A brand-new mini-split system provides individually controlled air conditioning (and heating) in every room, keeping you perfectly cool on warm summer days.
Outdoor Living & Amenities
• The Deck: Step outside into the warm summer air to listen to the gentle, soothing sounds of Shorts Creek flowing just below the cabin.
• Grilling: Cook up your favorite steaks, burgers, or the day's fresh catch on our Blackstone griddle grill.
• A Special Welcome: Enjoy a complimentary bottle of local wine from the renowned Chateau Morrissette Winery in nearby Floyd County.
• Pets Welcome! Your furry family members are part of the vacation. We even provide extra sheets in the laundry room so your well-behaved pets can curl up comfortably without furniture worries.
