A classic entry staircase and manicured pencil pines out front, contemporary interiors once you're inside — this one plays both sides well. Tucked at the back of a small, quiet complex, it's surprisingly peaceful for something moments from the buzz of Sydney Road, which is either a happy accident or very good planning.

The Space

What You Actually Get
Both bedrooms have reverse-cycle heating and cooling, so you're covered whatever Melbourne throws at you that week, and large double-glazed windows keep things quiet and warm without shutting out the light. The living area has a 60" UHD Smart TV with Netflix, and the kitchen is fully equipped with its own dining space, so cooking in doesn't mean eating on the couch unless that's the plan. The bathroom and laundry are neat and properly sorted, and there's off-street parking for one small car, plus free street parking nearby if your car has other ideas.

The Location, Without the Spin
At 6 Sydney Road, this is one of Melbourne's most walkable neighbourhoods — cafés, restaurants, bars and supermarkets are all a short stroll away. The 19 tram stops right at your doorstep and gets you into the CBD in 10 minutes, which is faster than most people's commute from the actual suburbs. Princes Park, Royal Park, Melbourne Zoo and local tennis clubs are all walkable, and Sydney Road itself delivers on the live music, food and craft beer front, with Temple Brewing Co and Thunder Road Brewing both close by. Lygon Street's cafés and restaurants are minutes away too, and Melbourne Uni, Queen Victoria Market and the free tram zone are all within easy reach — genuinely one of the best-served pockets for public transport in the city.

Where to Eat (We've Actually Been)
Lux Foundry, Hope St — a converted warehouse that's been Brunswick's brunch heavyweight for over a decade. Big, buzzy, and worth the occasional queue.
A1 Bakery, Sydney Rd — a family-run Lebanese bakery since 1992. Order a za'atar manoushe at the counter and eat it on the walk home.
Da Bepi, Sydney Rd — a Venetian-style wine bar with cicchetti from $5. Good for a long, low-key evening.
Shop Ramen, Sydney Rd — a strong bowl of miso ramen, including a solid vegetarian option.
The Cornish Arms, Sydney Rd — a proper pub with one of Melbourne's biggest vegan menus, so nobody in the group misses out.

Off-street parking for one small car, plus free street parking nearby. Worth knowing if you're driving something on the larger side.
