"I will never stay at another Home2 Suites again. I had a good experience with them in Idaho Falls last summer, but this place in Thunder Bay, Ontario was a complete disaster. I reserved a room in March, 2026 for $223 for one night. When I got to the hotel June 4th, I was informed my room had been given away 15 minutes before I got there because of a credit card problem. They had called me as I was crossing the border into Canada and the call did not go there, but instead to voice. I had no cell service in that area, so I never saw the message until after they had me look for it later. Worse, no more rooms available at 4:30 pm. They did help me find another hotel for $450 a night and that was their last room. So, with the town’s hotels mostly booked, I had no choice but to pay $227 more for one night’s sleep. No idea why my credit card was a problem when the same card reserved rooms on the same trip to Canada through Hotels.com with no incidents."

"We came to Thunder Bay for emergency medical reasons. Arrived at midnight. The elevator didn’t work. Had to climb stairs with broken bones. Room was filthy. Blankets had burn holes. Peeling wallpaper. Broken windows. Bathroom floor was sticky. They charged for wifi. Noise and music way late. We checked out as soon as we returned from the hospital and could not get a refund for the second night and couldn’t talk to th manager. We left and complained to Hotels.com with no results"

"High ceilings made the room feel spacious. There were no plugs by the nightstands, and the outlet on the lamp didn't work, so we struggled to keep 2 phones, 2 tablets, and 2 sets of earbuds charged all week. The TV channel selection was very disappointing: no CNN, no US stations, no sports channels. Nobody came to tidy our room the first day. We bumped into the cleaner in the hall and asked for clean towels, but nobody picked up the garbage until we asked the front desk on the 3rd day to please send someone. The stairs in and out of the building are a major obstacle. There was a sign around the back of the building for someone with heavy luggage, but we couldn't find any elevator anywhere there. So we lugged heavy bags up 15 or so stairs. Not easy for seniors. There was actual dirt, like soil from somebody's shoes, in the bottom dresser drawer, so it obviously hadn't been checked or cleaned. Disappointing. Nice shower, but only one robe, not two. Overall, had potential, but didn't live up to it."
