The Royal Victoria Hotel

"The hotel has good facilities which we fully used including the bar, restaurant, parking and nice gardens to walk around, the staff were all really helpful and polite. The room was a bit dated and could have done with some new furnishings but was clean and as we requested, made up daily by the housekeeping team. The location of the hotel is excellent, just a short walk to Llanberis path, Snowdon Railway and town centre."

"We were surprised to find that guests have to pay an additional fee for parking. The building is quite old, so the ventilation wasn’t great and the room felt quite stuffy. Even though it was already the end of August, the room still felt quite warm and poorly ventilated. At night, there was also quite a lot of noise coming from the hotel kitchen downstairs, which was quite disturbing. Apart from these points, the staff were all very nice and friendly."
Plas Glynllifon Mansion

"A remarkable building, but still very much a work in progress Plas Glynllifon is an extraordinary place to stay. The building is genuinely impressive, full of history and character, and staying there feels very different from a conventional hotel. The welcome was friendly, the room was comfortable and breakfast was good. The setting is also excellent for exploring this part of North Wales. It is important to be realistic, though: this is still very much a hotel in development. Some of the facilities and infrastructure are not yet at the standard you would expect from a fully established hotel. During my stay the Wi-Fi was unreliable, there were no TVs in the rooms, and some parts of the property were clearly still being brought back into use. None of that spoiled my stay, because I knew I was staying somewhere that is being restored and developed rather than at a finished luxury hotel. In some ways it was interesting to see the building at this stage. There is no restaurant or bar at present, although there are places nearby. I particularly enjoyed Ty’n Llan, which is roughly a 20-minute walk away and was excellent for an evening meal. The real attraction here is the building itself and its potential. If the owners continue improving the practical side of the hotel while preserving its character, Plas Glynllifon could become somewhere genuinely special. I would stay again, but I would recommend arriving with the expectation that you are visiting a fascinating historic"

"It was lovely to have the river running behind the cabin, it had 3 good bedrooms and all the basics. No problems parking the car up.The double doors were very tricky to lock and unlock to open which was a little concerning as they were the point of entry/exit to the property. It would have been nice if the outdoor furniture was a bit more comfortable or the cushions cleaner & they were facing the river, although they did the job.It was a pleasant site & we had a lovely time."

"Over all accommodation was fine, stayed for 3 nights. The views outside are breathtaking, and all the flaws of room can be forgotten for the views and trails around property. Pros Easy Parking Easy checkIn Friendly staff 20 mins drive from Caenarfon town or llanberies Cons No restaurants nearby and no food delivery Will definitely stay again for the views and trails outside!!"

"The property was nice location, on site facilities were available if wanted. Chalet nice and clean, it was chilly this easter weekend so we used the heating that was supplied. Although radiators were supplied we found the fan heater more effective. Ideal location if you're going up snowdon with only a 15 minute drive. "

"Well located just a couple of miles outside Caernarfon. Only 10 minutes drive from an excellent riding stables, 20 minutes from the wonderful Dinas Dinlle beach. Pub about a mile away in Bontnewydd with some decent pub meals. Plenty of parking space at the location. Very peaceful with a comfortable outside seating space. Well equipped kitchen - only a small freezer compartment in the fridge which was absolutely fine for us but would not be suitable for anyone hoping to bring a lot of frozen food for the week. Wifi was a bit slow at times - again not a problem for us but might be an issue if you wanted to stream more than one thing at a time during your stay. Very comfortable sofas and a good size TV - just sorry it wasn't cold enough to try out the log burner :)"

"A lovely cottage which did me fine for four nights.A little tricky to find initially but a phone call to Claire the owner helped out.Quite basic but clean, the wi fi a bit temperamental but easily sorted.A nice location on a main road but not disturbed by traffic noise.I would definitely recommend to friends and will stay there again."
