Disappointing Experience - Cigarette Odor in Non-Smoking Room
Pros: Central location, clean lobby
Cons: Poor room quality, unprofessional customer service
I stayed at this hotel for one night in August 2025. Upon entering our “non-smoking” room, we immediately noticed a persistent cigarette odor that lasted throughout our entire stay. Three people confirmed the smell.
Issues encountered:
• Strong cigarette smell in supposedly non-smoking room
• Reception staff dismissive and uncooperative when problem reported
• Housekeeping “verification” claimed no odor, yet smell persisted until 10pm
• Refused room change despite legitimate health concerns
• Unprofessional tone in written communications
The irony: Hotel charges $250 CAD deposit to prevent smoking violations, yet places guests in rooms that already smell of cigarettes.
Health impact: As a non-smoker sensitive to tobacco, this affected my comfort and well-being throughout the stay.
Customer service: Staff showed little willingness to resolve the issue or provide appropriate compensation.
Would I return? No. Would I recommend? Only if you don’t mind potential cigarette odors and poor problem resolution.
Tip for future guests: Check room immediately upon arrival and don’t hesitate to demand a different room if needed.
