"The residence is in a quiet peaceful location reached via a windy hillly road. In the 4 nights we stayed in early September, we saw, from the large windows of our rooms, clear views of the hills and mountain, starry nights, misty cloudy views and even a lightening show. "Sadly this hotel is disappointing in so many ways. The staff were very pleasant and helpful but through no fault of theirs, the hotel is very poorly kept, is incredibly outdated and requires more investment in time, money and management. The bathrooms were very poorly kept especially, gardens not maintained and massive bins welcome you at the entrance. Pillows are poor quality, lots of basic maintenance and lacking in characters, atmosphere and care. Please do not be attracted by the views - which are great - but the quality of the hotel is low and I would avoid, despite the views as you will be disappointed."

"As a fan of Freddie, a stay at The Freddie Mercury when in Montreux is a must. It's campy, and fun and you can't not smile in the public areas. As a rather fussy hotel guest, I had no real issues. There isn't air conditioning, but there is some air circulation. The rooms are basic, but how much time do you plan on spending in there? The bed is super comfortable, the breakfast is reasonable for the price (on demand omelettes and lots of variety). It was clean enough, though there is some wear starting to show. The staff was very helpful. Most of all, the location is amazing and on the train station platform (you can hear the trains from your room if you're on that side, but it's a soft/gentle woosh every now and then). I'm so glad I stayed there. Thank you!"

"We had a fantastic stay at La Folie Douce in Chamonix. The location is excellent—just a short walk from the town centre and with easy access to the slopes, making it the perfect base for exploring the area. The hotel has everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay, with great facilities and a lively atmosphere. The rooms were comfortable, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. What really made our stay special was the staff. Every member of the team was friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful throughout our visit. They always went out of their way to assist with any questions or requests and made us feel genuinely valued as guests. Now that we have stayed at this hotel in Chamonix we wouldnt go to another one and would highly recommend La Folie Douce to anyone visiting Chamonix."
