“It was overall good. I did enjoy the breakfast offering. The staff wasn’t very helpful, however. I asked for help shipping a package and the first staff member said I could bring the package to the reception desk and they could print a label and arrange delivery. The second staff member I asked when I got the package ready told me they could not help me at all. I had to walk about 15 minutes to a DHL location carrying my 25lbs package to get it shipped. The property was pretty well maintained……

“Fantastic staff and cleanliness. However, it is very dated. There is also a green space directly next door which seems to attract undesirables, they were fighting and really frightened our children.”

“The hotel is renovated, large and very clean and neat. The staffs are friendly and energetic. There is an elevator in the hotel, and it is very helpful for me. It offers many kinds of food for breakfast and it is delicious. The location is near to most of sites and Christmas markets, only 10-15 minutes walk from the DB train station. I would like to make a suggestion that is to change the kettle, because it usually smells strange when the water is boiled, maybe it can't endure the heat anymore.……

“I experienced unfriendly staff and unwelcoming staff at the Hotel zum Roten Bären. Harsh, curt and rude. Somewhat shocking for a hotel that prides itself on being the oldest hotel in the Region! The room itself was spacious and light by European standards but had no coffee machine, or mini fridge. Coffee would be available downstairs on weekends at 8 a.m. and 7 a.m. during the week. During our stay it was 100 degrees in Freiburg and of course the room didn't have air conditioning. But opening……

“It’s a great simple place and we’re very accommodating with mt secure bike storage It’s a big sporting complex and was fine Near to a pizza place as well as its own restaurant which I didn’t try Walkable to the shopping centre so no big issue Was clean and very compatible with my needs No aircon but didn’t need it Has a swimming pool and sauna free to use for guests but didn’t get to use”

“My son and I absolutely loved (!!!) staying here. Tom is so nice and personable, and he provided great recommendations for places to eat and visit. It was also fun that he could chat some about recent history of Freiburg. The rooms were clean and well-heated, and the showers and whirlpool tub were great! Modern.
