Located in peaceful South Nags Head and just a 3-minute walk to the beach, The Salty Wahoo provides terrific views that stretch from ocean to sound. Enjoy your morning coffee on the front deck or sunroom while watching the sunrise. And end your day with a glass of wine while watching the sunset over the sound on the back deck or sunroom. Impeccably maintained and well equipped, our beach home offers beautiful decor and wood laminate floors throughout. With multiple living areas and comfortable furnishings, you will find our home incredibly relaxing and homey. Enjoy the hot tub for the ultimate relaxation! Bring your bikes or rent them locally and take advantage of the 10 mile bike path in South Nags Head. For those rainy days or the evenings, we have you covered with an expansive movie library, variety of books, fun games and flat screen TVs with Roku remotes and DVD players located in EVERY room. You won't want to leave, but if you do, we are only a few miles away from restaurants, ice cream, shopping, fishing piers, and mini golf. Visit the Bodie Island Lighthouse or Oregon Inlet just around the corner, and explore historical Manteo only a 15 minute drive away.

Level 3: Open Living Room, Dining Room and Kitchen with induction range; Full Bath (shower); Oceanside Sunroom; Soundside Sunroom with office desk and workout equipment; Private Den w/ Sleep Sofa; Really Nice Ocean Views; Decks off the front and side/back of the home.

Features include: WIFI, Central AC & Heat, Ceiling Fans, Washer/Dryer, Dishwasher, Microwave, 7 HDTVs with Roku remotes, 7 DVD players, YouTubeTV, Deck Furniture. Nice, comfortable, roomy home with a great view of the ocean from the living area. Kitchen was well-equipped, there was enough space for 6 adults to eat together, lounge, play cards or chat in smaller groups. Located conveniently to activities, stores and attractions while still feeling like we were close to the ocean. Owners were very helpful and responsive to questions. We would definitely come back!

We really enjoyed staying at Tommy’s place. Beautiful views from the second floor, great layout, stocked kitchen, very comfortable beds and sitting areas. Access to the beach was super easy, and having the wagon and beach chairs made it so easy. I also really appreciated how responsive Tommy was each time we asked a question. Without fail he responded within minutes or within the hour. We had to contend with Hurricane Erin so his availability was super helpful. We plan to come back!!

Piece of Paradise

Our stay at the Salty Wahoo was wonderful. Tommy and Danielle were easy to communicate with and everything was clean upon arrival. The location is perfection at the south side of Nags Head and walking to the beach was a breeze. The only negative was the grill. I had read previous reviews prior to our trip regarding the grill. On our second night, we planned to grill burgers. Upon trying to light the grill, we noticed charcoal was placed in the propane grill, therefore making it inoperable. I notified Tommy and he apologized for the inconvenience, however not one step was taken to rectify the situation. We still had five more nights remaining at this property and heard no more regarding the grill. That was disappointing as we had hoped to use the grill throughout our stay. With that being said, I would stay here again, hopefully with an operable grill.

24-hour amazing views (+We brought too much stuff!)

One of my main goals for any beach vacation is to catch at least one sunrise and sunset. At the Salty Wahoo, we saw both—every day! Just go out on a deck and they’re right there for you. And the stargazing at night is phenomenal. This has to be the cleanest, best-stocked rental we have ever had the pleasure of visiting. We brought our usual armament of supplies because I didn’t trust the listing, but the owners thought of everything. No last-minute runs to the store needed. The only snafu we had was getting the grill to work. In all fairness, we shouldn’t have waited until the burgers were ready to go on to check it, and the owners were responsive when I messaged them about the problem. Thank you so much for providing a comfortable home base for a much-needed relaxing getaway.

Salty Wahoo Aug 2024

What an incredible week! The Salty Wahoo was the perfect choice for our OBX getaway; it is both beautifully decorated and cozy. The perfect location in South Nags Head, close enough to make a grocery run but secluded enough that the beach was never crowded. It was so nice to be able to use the beach wagon which made transporting all the beach ‘necessities’ so much easier, as well as the extra chairs and large cooler. And of course the hot tub was a great way to unwind at the end of the day. It was absolutely perfect, and we look forward to returning!

Nice beach home for our family

This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed at this house because our family said it was their favorite one we’ve stayed in. We like that it has a fully stocked kitchen, a nice hot tub, plenty of beds for everyone. Also, the little rooms to have some quiet time when needed. Oh, and so close to the beach with a buggy to load up and roll to the ocean. The hosts are real nice and helpful.

OBX Perfection!

My entire family enjoyed our stay immensely! This house suited us perfectly. It was spotlessly clean, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. Its location ar the southern end of Nags Head was perfect for our plans to explore the Outer Banks. Very easy access to the beach. We visited Roanoke, Hatteras, and Duck and loved it all! Would highly reccomend this property and it's hosts.

Great spaces for family of 8 to be together. Well equipped except for bath and kitchen towels. Plenty of beach towels, chairs and toys. Beds and furniture very comfortable. Nice views of ocean and sound. Long walk to beach but great to have the beach wagon.

Friends + Family Beach Vacation

Overall the house was in great condition, seems recently stylized, fresh, clean and current. The house was just the right size for 8 of us. Loved the front and back decks which got used every day depending on the breeze. Lots of different places to relax. Short walk to beach.
