The food was well below average. The staff outside of two standouts (King - barman, Giovanni - barman) just don’t care, mindless / hapless…. Coffee bar they were openly rude / impatient. A marked downgrade from RIU in Cancun….

I’ve stayed at a RIU in Montego Bay before, so I knew paying more usually means a nicer, more “luxury” experience. That wasn’t really the case here. Palace Tropical Bay didn’t feel like an upgrade, and honestly we could’ve just stayed at Riu Negril and been just as happy, if not happier. When we went there for the White Party, it looked just as nice. The swim-up bar pool was also an issue—the filter seemed off because there was always debris floating around, which wasn’t great. The “ocean view” is pretty limited—you can see the ocean, but it’s more of a partial view than a full one. On the positive side, the entertainment staff did a great job keeping people engaged even with all the rain that week and food was pretty good. The biggest frustration was that we could not check in our first night due to bad weather costing us our connecting flight, and even though Expedia contacted the hotel, they refused to refund or accommodate that night which was really disappointing.

Lovely resort right in the beach. Not too big and you can even go over to the other Riu resort down the beach and eat there too with your all-inclusive bracelet. The beach is AMAZING. Drinks are great, food is good overall. Highly recommend reserving a dinner at the Steak House- our favourite of the restaurants there. Staff were always helpful. Can’t wait to go back!

Great staff and very clean facilities. Staff restocked alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages each day. Food at the facilities was excellent. However, bed was extra hard and Do Not book transfers from airport to hotel with Destination Services. In particular, if you must book transfers with Destination Services, please ask flr someone other than Obrien. Met with him briefly at the hotel to schedule pick up time from hotel to airport. He gave me a pick time at 9:15am, however the driver arrived for pickup at 8:15am and stated they do not schedule pickup for 9:15am. I tried to contact Obrien twice to confirm the pickup time, but he never responded to my texts or phone calls. He also never provided me with a confirmation booking number. The driver that arrived to pick us up called our hotel room and threaten to leave us if we didn't hurry up and come downstairs. We had to scramble to finish getting dress. Very unprofessional behavior from Obrien and the driver.

We recently stayed at this resort, and overall it was a very pleasant experience. The resort was very clean, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. This was actually our third time staying here, and we have always enjoyed the atmosphere and service. However, we were very disappointed with the restaurant reservation system. According to the website, reservations open at 8:00 a.m. on the same day, but every time I tried to reserve right at 8:00 a.m., the system showed that everything was already fully booked. This happened several days in a row. During our previous visits, the restaurants operated on a first-come, first-served basis, which worked much better for guests. The new reservation system does not seem to function as advertised, and it was frustrating not being able to secure a reservation despite trying exactly when reservations opened. I hope the resort reviews this system or improves the process so guests can actually access the dining options that are advertised.

We were sent to Riu Negril for a night due to TB being overbooked (inconvenient!). At TB, we chose a garden view room and ended up with a view of the aging property next door. Damion in the buffet is amazing. A lot of little nuances, like the fire alarm activating a few times during our stay, toilets being clogged, and a cockroach in our room will keep us from returning. Not to mention the snafu with the overbooking. Not our jam. We'll try someplace else next time.

It was a great view at the Palace on our 2nd night when we actually got to stay there. After a long day of travel we arrived at the hotel to find out we got moved to the property next door which was cheaper, we paid for the Palace and our friends were at the Palace. They shouldn't be able to move us and not let us know in advance. They made us check out of our room at noon the next day, but we couldn't check into the Palace until 3. They should have been more accommodating to us and let us have a late check out.

I was in the hospital completely unexpectedly for 8 nights and missed our trip to Jamaica. Nobody at the resort or through Expedia would help us get a waiver or change our dates. I made many attempts and nobody was willing. We didnt want our money back, just wanted to change to a date we could go. So disappointing.

Rooms were dated, housekeeping was really good, drink service at beach was sub par or non existent. Front desk was helpful and bar staff were fun. Buffet was good but specialty restaurants ok. Property was very clean. The oddest thing were the beds. Instead of a king, there were 2 full size beds pushed together. I felt like I was falling in a hole all night. The beds were made up with 2 sheets per bed, no comforter.
