Very disappointed
The house had not been thoroughly cleaned in very long time. The mattresses very old with no support to them. All seat cushions soiled and stained. All furniture very used and dirty. Mouse traps in the house throughout. Kitchen dusty, greasy pots and pans, Center island top sticky and dirty. Soiled pot holders in the drawer. Plumbing issues. Fireplace left used and ashes outside on the floor with a dirty area rug covering it. Articles left from previous renters under all of the furniture and bathroom vanities. Red spots(blood we assume) on the bathroom floor. Ninety-five throw pillows throughout the house and soiled. The sun porch was not even fit to sit out at so dirty and personal articles all about...pictures, books etc. The grounds around the house was a swamp! It was flooded from rain and they did not alert us to this. We ruined are shoes walking in mud and water. Tv very difficult to navigate! We gave up and used our phones to live stream. It is a shame because it could be a lovely place to stay if the owners put some time into cleaning it, replacing old furniture and mattresses as well as having the plumbing fixed and some type of drains around the property. VRBO should really take the time to visit some of these rentals they allow on their sites. This is not fit to be rented and on top of it they charged us a 300.00 cleaning fee! I asked for it back and they denied it, but were quick to charge us a 250.00 fee to fix the yard that our trailer sank into from flooding!

Sometimes as vacation rental owners you get bad guests, who trash your home and demand money back and then leave a bad review, not because it was justified, but because they didn’t get their own way. Our numerous other reviews that state the house is clean, amazing, unforgettable etc. represent the truth about our home. We take pride in it, and we share our home with others so they can enjoy the beauty and tranquility that the house and property have to offer. In this case, the guest left their own trash all over the house, and left it in very poor condition. They did several hundreds of dollars in damage to our landscaping because they didn’t know how to drive their boat trailer – which we gladly refunded to them when they told us it was because they had no choice in order to maneuver the trailer around trees. And when she demanded her $300 cleaning fee refunded (which we only charge $225) I explained that that fee covers the landscaping guy, the cleaning lady, the local laundromat that washes the sheets and towels, the handyman to collect the trash. We do not keep a penny of it, but rather use it to employ locals and help the local economy. We do sometimes get very high tides which can come over the banks sometimes and cause mud. We will take that feedback into consideration and will inform our future guests to prepare in the event of king tides. We are always open to hearing constructive feedback about the house and grounds, but sometimes all people want to do is tear it up publicly. It is unfortunate to host people like that. We love it when honest, trustworthy people stay and enjoy our home, and take care of it like their own. We feel blessed to be able to own such an amazing home in a fantastic location and we hope that our guests will continue to enjoy it.

I want to live here!
I met up with a good friend for a long weekend that immediately felt too short. The house is absolutely wonderful! Views galore. Total peace and tranquility. Very private. We just wanted to enjoy the cove, drink coffee by the water and enjoy excursions to Gloucester, Gwynn Island, and Mathews. The house was perfectly located but was wonderful just one its own. We hope to come back soon and take out the kayaks in the warmer weather.

Stunning river retreat
What a serene, gorgeous, waterfront property! Exceptionally private and well stocked, this retreat was the perfect respite we needed. Elissa was a fantastic hostess and communicated in a timely manner. We enjoyed our stay, the view, the privacy, the ambiance and amenities of the home.

Rainy relaxing weekend
The property is very nice. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need to cook if that’s what you want to do. The fireplace was very difficult to use so we didn’t use it. The heat works but when it’s on it’s pretty stifling in the upstairs bedroom which is the only king bed in the house. The kitchen window leaks when it is raining heavy.

It doesn't get any better...
I rent a VRBO house every year to have my grown kids for the weekend for Thanksgiving dinner. Tranquility on the Water was the ideal setting! The house felt welcoming from the moment we walked in and the renovations/decor are the perfect balance between rustic farmhouse and modern conveniences. The kitchen was well-appointed with everything you could need, and the views were breathtaking. I enjoyed cooking in that kitchen all day! The layout of the house is open, yet cozy and the beds are incredibly comfortable. The hosts were more than accommodating and quick to respond. Everything about this rental was easy from start to finish. Thank you for your hospitality and sharing your beautiful home.

Beautiful waterfront home
The house is stunning. It’s exactly as described, the views are incredible. We had a couple great afternoon/evenings out in Gloucester which was o my a short 15 minute drive away. Would absolutely stay again. If I had to give any critical feedback, I’d say (and likely because we’re at the end of season), while the place was very surface clean, it was in need of one of those yearly deep cleans.

Wonderful Waterside Convenience!
We found this cozy waterside abode to attend our nieces wedding in the area. Spacious, clean, and appointed, slept 6 adults very comfortably, like being at home. Exceptional views to wake up to for coffee and country breakfast with the local coastal wildlife. Peaceful Get Away

Cozy feel with gorgeous views
We stayed at this well appointed home for the July 4th holiday week. I cannot even begin to say how amazing the kitchen is with its stunning views of the water!! It was such a pleasure to share our breakfast and gaze out at the water every morning. It was very hot and humid while were staying there so the upstairs was a little warm, but with the assist of the box fan we were able to keep it cool and comfortable , no trouble with the downstairs, the sunroom however, was very warm. So many cozy spots to sit and chat or read in this home, especially the window seats!!! Just such a unique and wonderful feature. It is a marshy area, so bring your bug spray if you come in the summer. The docks are great, and the kayaks and fishing poles are wonderful amenities as well. The home is very private and quiet and it really is perfect for a relaxing getaway, very close to the towns of Gloucester and Mathews for groceries and restaurants. We had hoped to grill for July 4th but there was not one present, it was in all of the literature so maybe it just got damaged in a storm or broke. Hopefully there will be one again in the future for use as it is the perfect location to have one available. Now, I will say, the water and septic situation does take some management. Short showers for sure and use of the bidet feature on the toilets helped, dishwasher works well, we didn’t do laundry to try to conserve the water. We had a lovely time and would definitely return!!!

Peaceful, restful, comfortable and clean house.
This house is beautiful and the surroundings delightful. We loved having our coffee on the dock each morning and our afternoon cocktails in the evening. The kitchen is well equipped, with your choice of coffee maker types. The fridge is spacious but there is no ice maker so bring a bag of ice with you. Beds and baths are very comfortable and spacious. The decorations are an extra nice touch. The owner warned that the internet could be finicky, but we had no trouble watching TV through the provided Roku. The outside grill worked great too. If you are looking for peace and quiet in an easily accessible, but remote location this is your spot. But it is also just a relatively short drive to the historic triangle, Norfolk and even the Delamar peninsula. We had a great time here.

A Pearl inside of a Chesapeake Bay oyster!!!
We had a great stay at this lovely updated farmhouse. The views were absolutely amazing. Great location!! Short and easy driving distance to Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown, and Bush Gardens!! Would definitely recommend to others and hope to come back one day.

Beautiful home and location
We had the best time at this beautiful home on the water. We enjoyed cooking in the spacious kitchen while the children played games with the grandparents in the living room. Enjoyed walking the property line and spending time on the dock. Great location for day trips to Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown…would have loved to just spend a whole day at the house!

Little r&r
We really loved this house! My husband and I rented this place to just get some r&r. We had the pleasure of bringing our grandson with us at the last minute. So glad we did . He really loved the house and picked the loft to be his bedroom, said that was his dream bedroom .lol He loved the window seat which he made his bed. The house was very clean. The beds were comfortable. We had everything there that we needed plus some .We really enjoyed walking the property and sitting on the dock and just listening to nature. So peaceful! We did try fishing but didn't catch anything. And on the very last day we had a couple of river otters putting on a show for us ! I so enjoyed watching them! Very great place to just get away from everything! You definitely won't be disappointed in this property! Thank you so much!

Beautiful and relaxing getaway
We absolutely loved our stay. The house and property were beautiful with an incredibly relaxing atmosphere. We were blessed with beautiful weather the majority of our stay allowing for our family to kayak in December. We enjoyed walking and exploring the property, reading and observing in the oversized window seats, and cooking in the beautiful kitchen. It was just what our family needed to recharge for the new year. Nick was great with an open line of communication. We lost power for a few hours during a storm, but they’ve prepared the house with candles, flash lights, and board games. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bath towels left me wanting to replace my own at home! The home is set up perfectly for guests. I just wish we’d had more time.

During the holidays
The house is beautiful , the surroundings are beautiful , cleaned updated house with a gorgeous kitchen, plenty of room for everyone with an opened floor plan , we did have an issue the second day we were there , the temperatures were low and the pipes froze , we had no running water at all for the next few days which caused us to unfortunately leave early , besides that issue everything about the house was perfect , we would definitely return in the warmer months!

EXTRAORDINARY STAY! Overwhelmingly breathtaking
You will wish you have booked this home for at least 5 days to a week (we sure wish we had). Overwhelming views of this home from both the indoors and out. This quaint, not tiny, and not too large of a waterfront home has been well done with modern conveniences. It's a beautiful farmhouse. The kitchen is divine, the home offers numerous zones for relaxing and the views are breathtaking! Looking forward to rebooking.

Nice Weekend Getaway
Nice secluded property on the inlet with great views. Its not very close to anything so you need to bring in most of your supplies for the weekend. The AC didn't work the greatest upstairs and there is also a plumbing issue that caused our downstairs toilet to get backed up, which we ended up being charged for. But all in all a nice spot for a weekend getaway.

My husband and I got married recently in Gloucester at a private property, but decided to rent this property as a "get-away" spot for privacy and peace from all the wedding chaos going on. The property is absolutely gorgeous! The home is very well maintained and homey feeling! As soon as we walked through the door we were immediately at ease! I love the layout of the home. The kitchen is a dream kitchen for anyone who loves to cook and we do! The landscaping and outdoor entertaining area is great! Love the firepit as well. The property owners were very accommodating and responsive during our stay. What made it extra special is the proximity to the wedding venue is less than 2 miles away. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We will be back!!!

We had a wonderful time catching fish, kayaking, swimming, playing lawn games and having fires during our stay. We had a couple hiccups and Nick was super quick and attentive. It is truly a beautiful secluded area. We made amazing memories.

Restful, relaxing vacation time!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the farmhouse. Nick answered any questions that we had very quickly. The house was a vacation in itself as you only have to bring your clothes & personal items. The atmosphere was so very relaxing. The property is secluded but just a short drive from anything that you may need. We spent most of our time in Colonial Williamsburg but spent out down time at the house recharging for the next adventure. Thank you again for a lovely experience for our first vacation since before the pandemic.

Family Vacation
We had a wonderful time! The house was everything and more than expected! We did day visits to Yorktown, Jamestown and Williamsburg. We visited the local towns of Gloucester and Mathews but really we could have spent our entire day at the house.... so much to do! We were even blessed with the sighting of 2 dolphins by our dock! Best Vacation EVER!
We had an amazing stay! The house was beautiful...looks just like the photos. The kitchen was perfect for preparing meals. We enjoyed the big table for eating and playing games at night. The property was private and very peaceful. The dock and river was just what our family of 6 needed. We spent most of our time sitting on the dock! We swam, fished and enjoyed the kayacks! Nice Getaway
Communication from owners was easy and prompt. Everything was as expected-comfortable like home, and unbelievable how relaxing it was as soon as we walked in the door, and saw peaceful water views everywhere. Despite the 22 acres in a rural setting, it was nice to have stores like Walmart and Aldi just a short drive away if needed. As mentioned in the well prepared introductory binder on property, the septic system can get overwhelmed easily. We hustled our 3 kids through showers, but after 3 showers, and washing dishes, we had to wait a little while for the downstairs toilet to flush. I don’t see this as a huge downside when staying at a rural waterside property, but I do think it’s something to plan ahead for if going with a big family, or planning on laundry, dishes, and showers in the same night. Overall, this was an amazing property that allowed us to recharge for a few days. Our 11 year old kids were also thoroughly impressed, and were asking to go back as soon as possible.

Nick is an amazing host- we were greeted with a bottle of wine in the kitchen, throw blankets everywhere (because that's important during winter), & a warm home. We were very pleasantly surprised to find that the bed sheets were folded neatly in a stack on each bed as an added COVID precaution- THANK YOU! This was the first house we've rented since COVID that I did not feel the need to wipe/ Lysol/ mop again before I allowed my family in. House was impeccably clean, save for some stray dog hairs (house is dog- friendly) but that didn't bother us at all. It is about an hour's drive from Williamsburg though, and two out of three beds are a bit higher off the ground (this made a bit of a difference for us since we have small children). Overall, it was a relaxing stay & we'd definitely come back. Thanks so much Nick & Elissa!!!

Great stay on the Bay!
This property is amazing! The house was clean, modern and had everything we needed! Fished speckled trout, blue crabs (as many as you wanted) and plucked oysters out of the pluff mud. Far enough away to be rural but 20 minutes from Walmart. Book it!
