“This was our first visit to Bacalar, it is trully an amazing place. If you are looking for a secluded lakefront property where you can feel like you are part of nature, this is the place. We spent 4 days in Sally´s house and it was an incredible experience, although being in a gated community it feels like you are totally by yourself and we never saw anyone else in the lagoon during our vacation. The house has a couple of Kayaks that our kids loved, feeling like explorers researching all over……

“Fantastic and quiet! Be aware, the road to the house is full of potholes. DONT LET THAT DETER YOU! The seclusion and peace and quiet are worth the drive. There is a resident iguana, outside the front door. I named her Dolores (no idea why) but she was never an issue. There are house geckos, but again they were never an issue. We also had our first experience with, what we assume, were lightning bugs in the trees and along the beach. Little flickers of light at night. The only downside, we never……

“This house was booked last minute for an improptu women's holiday because it was available and allowed a pet. The view of the lake is beautiful, but you can't get in and out to swim here. Many things were in disrepair like doors, windows, and screens. Linens, towels, water, toilet paper was not ready for us and had to be asked for and was stained and worn. The microwave and stove top were not setup to work and our air conditioner went out on our second day. I would not stay here again but the……

“Our stay at Casa Xchel in Calderitas was wonderful! The house has a modern feel but is fully stocked with thoughtful amenities—everything from a blow dryer and hairbrush to shampoo, conditioner, body wash, robes, towels (including pool towels), an iron and ironing board, washer and dryer with detergent, and even a speaker for music. The view from the upstairs main room was breathtaking, and having private bathrooms in each bedroom made the stay even more comfortable. Waking up to the sounds of……
