Good value in Penzance

Hotel is right on the waterfront with a big car park across the street for easy parking. Hotel is reasonably modern and well looked after. Walking distance to everything. We had an accessible (wheelchair) room and the open wetroom bathroom that has many dirty-wheeled wheelchairs rolling over it needs to be cleaned much more regularly.

We booked a family room as we needed two beds and a shower. Upon arrival we were checked into a room that was not a family room and had only one bed. We returned to the front desk and explained we needed two beds. We were then given an accessible room but it only had a hand-held shower which wasn’t possible for one of us to use due to a shoulder injury. We returned to the front desk and asked why we couldn’t have the room we’d booked ages ago. We were told it had been given to another person and it wouldn’t be fair to move their family. We were then told to wait and they’d set up a 2nd bed in the first room we were given. When we got to the room, they’d set up a bench. The bench didn’t have a mattress, was maybe 150cm long and maybe 60cm wide. The sheets and blanket were hanging over the edges on the floor. It was not possible to sleep on that bench - it was not a bed. Throughout the ordeal we were made to feel like we were the problem. We paid for a room we couldn’t use. We should receive a full refund.
