Poor value for money

Poor value for money There are way better places in Douro Valley at a lower price point. Even after being open more than a year it feels like it still has teething problems. Staff is not trained properly. Very slow service; music playing outside our room from the pool at night; sloppy turndown service (they left the ironing board in the room despite promising to take it away); they put our bags in the wrong room; cigarette burns in the patio furniture; one analogue key instead of digital means one person is always without a key (and by the way, the door doesn’t automatically lock when closed so you have to manually lock your door at night). On the plus side, the view is stunning; the pool wonderful; the restaurant is excellent and the rooms are very clean and comfortable

Torel Quinta da Vacaria was the most beautiful and best stay in Douro Valley. The hotel was an architectural marvel, with its state of the art spa to the most spectacular views of the river. But the best part was its amazing staff and impecable service. This had been one of the best hotels we have stayed in the world and we HIGHLY recommend it.

Quinta da Vacaria was absolutely wonderful. The views from the hotel of the Douro terrain is magical. The staff is friendly and helpful which makes the visit extra special. An added bonus is the wine making facility on the property. We enjoyed a tour of the winery and tasted their wines in the perfect setting.

Beautiful hotel decor, stunning spa and pool area. Views are stunning over the valley. Staff very helpful. The only thing we were in duplex room which was annoying on two floors, didn’t feel comfortable and didn’t flow well and lack or storage for clothes. Also the casual dining options was very limited.

Awesome Douro valley hotel

We have stayed at Torel for two nights in July. This was a to celebrate special occasion and it was worth it. The hotel is on hills where the Douro (Port) wine grapes are cultivated and it has a beautiful view of this world heritage site. The room is very comfortable. The hotel has two restaurants. Both are good but the smaller one (Schisto) is a really good (soon to be)Michelin star restaurant. Really worth the experience.

Accommodations 5* Food 5* Property & Amenities 5* An inland riveria with what you would desire from a Michelin property. The rooms and common areas are picturesque and should be visited by Arch Digest. Well appointed and furnished to relax the mind. The staff is top notch. Not too assertive but very attentive and respectful. The restaurant options have a nice variety from bar to Michelin. This is what you want. A kitchen that can provide delicious bites on the go and the more exquisite dishes for that special moment. We personally, loved the breakfast and infinity pool in the mornings, property amenities during the day (gym, vineyard, spa), and bar/restaurant options in the evening. A beautiful oasis to call home base if you are looking to stay put in Douro valley or venture out into the countryside. ~ Cheers.
