"This recently updated family-owned property is a retreat from the hustle of busy streets, beaches and mega-resorts. The rooms are large, comfortable and very clean.Having the hosts downstairs is an added bonus--good conversation, tips for getting around, breakfast (small extra ) if desired. Their big ole dog has quite the personality. He quickly warms up to guests after a day or two. He does not go upstairs; he keeps to himself in a corner or inside the house. "From check in to check out, we were well taken care of. From the front desk, to the awesome concierge, or helpful bellboys! We purchased a private shuttle (separate from hotel) to and from the airport. When it didn’t arrive the hotel coordinated a taxi (paid) and dealt with the shuttle service. Just another example of how great they were!"

"Hotel Rio Malecon is a great hotel! Friendly staff and an excellent restaurant, Coexist Bistro (Italian/Mexican). The property itself is a little dated but the rooms are very clean, the beds are comfy and the air conditioning works great! There is a unique pool and lounge area in the courtyard too! You can't beat the location right on the malecon with tons to do and see all within walking distance. See you soon!"
