On the first night at the game center playing 8-ball pool, we asked a staff member for assistance when a ball got stuck. When she arrived, she said, “oh, two monkeys,” referring to my friend and I, the only dark-skinned people in our group of 5. We immediately told her that comment is unacceptable. She proceeded to justify it saying it was due to the color of our skin. We continued to tell her that’s racist and she shouldn’t be referring to people like that unprovoked. I took a photo of her in order to report the incident to customer service. They informed us that this same worker has received multiple similar racist complaints in the past but refused to provide her name when asked. They also said nothing could be done because she works for an “external” company. Even though this situation clearly occurred on the resort’s property, they did not want to take any accountability. The staff was very nonchalant about the ordeal and seemed as though they just didn’t care. I was extremely uncomfortable even walking around the property for the rest of the vacation and left our vacation with a sour taste.

Nice night entertainment, sewer small in the room, good food but want to se mor Dominican food. Friendly staff but poor front desk service. There is a phone in each room, but it’s not working. If you want to request you have to send a text message. Great inconvenience. Beautiful courtyard, bird and cat around the compound, which is nice. Beautiful sand, beautiful beach. Music everywhere, which is really nice and cheerful.

While we acknowledge that the restaurants, food quality, and activities were very good, the condition and cleanliness of our room were unacceptable and fell well below the standards expected from a hotel of this category. From the first day of our arrival, we noticed several gecko droppings on the floor. Surprisingly, even after nearly 20 days, these were never removed. This clearly indicates that the room was not properly cleaned during our stay, with no adequate sweeping or mopping performed. The bathroom was consistently in poor condition.The toilet was not properly cleaned and became highly unhygienic by the end of our stay. The bathtub was so dirty that it was impossible to use it. These conditions are particularly concerning as we were traveling with young children and expected appropriate hygiene standards.Despite generally liking the hotel, this experience was deeply disappointing and has significantly affected our overall impression of the stay

Our beds were sagging They both creaked when you moved The ceiling outside our bathroom leaked, I reported it, we kept slipping on the water, we had to leave a towel and the bathroom bin to catch the water There was a rubber band. On the floor in front of the wardrobe, and was still there when we left 20 days later. There was food crumbs under the seat cushions on both couches. The staff were delightful, the DR animation team were so happy and friendly ; one French animation guy was lovely, the French animation girls were extremely rude and aloof…

Do not stay here. I received a spa treatment that caused visible damage and irritation to my face, which later spread from my nose to my cheeks. Nearly two weeks have passed since I reached out for assistance, and there has been no resolution or accountability. The resort does not allow ride-share vehicles onto the property, requiring guests to walk to the gate. Several bellmen refused to assist and were dismissive. While a few staff members: Victor, Oscar, and Luis, were professional and kind, the overall experience was poorly managed and unacceptable. I will not stay here again unless the resort takes responsibility for the harm caused by its services.

The manager of this resort should be ashamed of how it is run. Phones in room did not work so you had no way to contact maintenance, housekeeping, front desk, etc except for using the Whatsapp to send a message that nobody answered. Ordered room service for the kids and it never showed up. The day we checked in for 7 day stay, all of the restaurants said no availability. New Years eve special dinner was a disaster because waiter got the orders wrong and nobody checked on us after we ordered. We had no hot water in our room for 5 days. 80% of the games in the arcade and billiards room were broken leaving nothing to do at night. Beach was disgusting with kelp on shore and never cleaned. I would never stay at the Catalonia Punta Cana again.

TV in room didn’t work half of the channels were pixelated. Phone in room didn’t work. A/c in room didn’t work. No one came to get us water for buffet, walk to get water and guy cleared our table. Hear everything outside your room, including into neighboring rooms. Heard planes flying overhead all night long, on top of doors and conversations of other guests in there own room. Bathroom smelled like sewage, poor plumbing. We couldn’t reserve a taxi because our phone didn’t work so used the company on their website and when the morning came they told me they can’t pick us up and we have to walk all the way to the gate. Terrible customer service. Terrible room accommodation. Also we only had access to 2 out of the 5 restaurants there. I would not recommend anyone to ever stay here, which is sad because the Catalonia hotel in santo domino was so nice. Very bad impression for the brand.

Very disappointing, the staff are rude, seems like they don’t want to be there, not seen anybody smile for 7 days that I have been there. The room was in the first floor, and it seems like the septic backs up because the room smells. Not one restaurant was available for the entire stay, were forced to eat at the buffet, which was horrible with the exception of Christmas eve. Paid for the privilege suites, but no changes from the regular rooms, also none of the benefits really apply, room service will not pick up the phone, in the rare occasions they do, you will be waiting for hours and 9/10 times nobody shows, we asked for late check out, they told me no because there is a person who has asked for the room I was in specifically lol. To make matters worse one of the days a manager of the hotel asked us to go to the “EXCLUSIVE” side and he will handle the issues, they started selling a product that I was confused what was it, in the end after 4 hours of wasting our vacation time, they wanted to sell us a membership to a travel agency for only 30,000$ lol. None of the arcades for the kids are included, but even after having to pay for them they do not work. The kids pool was very small, with one little slide. My kid got really sick after the first day in that pool, so we decided to stay only at the beach. Stay away.

I’m always grateful for the hardworking employees of the resorts. The entertainment team were the only group of workers that made our experience enjoyable. With that said, this resort was subpar than other all inclusive resort I have had the opportunity to stay at. Time share information needs to be disclosed. Made a bad impression to start. While dining, the patrons are unable to access water on their own. 90% of our dining experiences water and refills were asked for and more often than not requests ignored. Chaotic seat placement in buffet. Staff pointed to where parties were to sit. There are often 10 possible tables in that area pointing is unhelpful. Tables were not turned over prior to seating. People are patient allow staff to provide excellent service and allowing them to clean between groups. Food in buffet was lukewarm at best. I understand food is being prepared in mass quantities, however, there is a great potential for food borne illness with the way some food is left out. Patrons are eating off their plates, with their hands while waiting and serving them selves. This has a huge potential for Norovirus. Staff should be firm on this should they observe this. I recognize most of the resort is outside. There is signage stating no smoking. This needs to be enforced. There needs to be smoking areas designated throughout the resort. Poolside, bar side, theater area. This is unacceptable. I would not reserve rooms at this resort again.

Room was overall clean. However, there were 2 mornings during my stay when I was woken up around 8 am by someone in the resort trying to sell me something. This was annoying. I hadbto disable the phone in the room to avoid that from happening again. Overall the stayeas pleasant, good was ok and the resort well maintained.

Room was in OK condition. The bed sheets and pilow cases had stains. Some days, we had to call the reception to provide towels / or change towels. The bathroom (shower) drain is not flowing well. So after shower, there is always a pool of soap water left. Yes this was mentioned to the cleaner, she checked it out bur didnt fix it. Buffet: I would prefer to have a simply process put in place to indicate when you are done eating before the waiters clean the table. On multiple times, i go get some food, my table has been cleared even though I was not done. Food: There are many dishes with Port. There was less of Beef. Also noticed the most are generally salty.
