Nice Get Away
Everything is there that you should need! We cooked a turkey dinner after hiking the trails at Black Rock Mountain. Very relaxing. Nice that there are books to read and maps of the area. Will be back again!

Location! Location! Location!
Wish we could have stayed longer. Maybe 5-10 minutes from Black Rock Mountain State Park, which was one of our main attractions. Close to good restaurants and tourist shopping. One of our favorite North Georgia Mountain trips by far. I got to hike James Edmonds Trail and then come home and get snuggly and comfortable! Well stocked, Ingles close by. Would stay here again.

Excellent out of the way retreat
Excellent experience! Owner was very quick with responding to questions. Cabin was very nice. Loved the location-out of the way, secluded. The guitar was an unexpected surprise! I was able to play in the evening. We will definitely be back!

Cozy Cabins in the Mountains
We enjoyed our stay beyond words. The cabin is cozy and well stocked with almost anything you could need. The porch swing is an amazing place to take in the beauty of the property and the soft breezes that blow almost all day long. We used the fireplace each morning and enjoyed our first cup of coffee cuddled up next to it. Our fur babies loved the yard and dirt roads that provided a great area to take long walks and explore. Although the property has a remote feel, shopping is easily accessible within 10 minutes. Black Rock Mountain State park is within 2 minutes of the property. Peaceful place to kick back, relax, and enjoy nature. We will definitely be back again!

Mountain getaway
The property is right next to Black Rock Mountain Park, about 6 minutes up the mountain, not a bad drive. Lots of activities close by in the little towns around the area. Jon the owner was very nice. House is nice for a small family. Lots of windows look out on a gorgeous mountain view.

Great location, well equipped, could use some updating.
Nice little cabin in a location very conveniently located to Black Rock State Park. Nice layout and well equipped with everything you need. Could use some updating though as it was very musty smelling. The bunk beds were nice, but the two beds in the bedrooms were not queens and were very old and in need of updating. Every time you moved the bed creaked and sounded like it was going to break. Front porch was very dirty and not really useable unless a lot of cleaning was done first. With new beds and getting rid of the mustiness it would be a very nice place though.

Always appreciate the feedback. We keep the cabin bundled up between guests and when it rains there is sometimes a different smell when you arrive. I think you will agree that after you open a window or run the AC for a few minutes the smell is gone and replaced by the wonderful fresh air we have up there. Agree with you about the outside deck, so we added new boards and put a fresh coat of paint outside to clean it up. The paint is a new technology with "non-skid" in it to make the deck safer as well as more beautiful. Always appreciate the feedback and we hope you come back and experience the upgrades and changes we applied based on your review.

Beautiful Wooded View, Happy Porch Swing, Awesome Host
My favorite spot - The Porch Swing! Great view and made it feel like home, I have two on my porch. Jon is one of the most generous, attentive and gracious host we have dealt with. His attention and quick responses to your questions goes above and beyond. His property is wooded and feels secluded even though there are houses around it. The trails and proximity to Black Rock Mountain State Park make this a great place for hiking. The house was VERY clean (smelled fresh and clean), well-furnished and stocked. My first impression on opening the door was "Oh wow". The split-level layout makes it even more roomy feeling. The beds were comfortable and the wood burning stove is awesome. There were no negatives to this property in our opinion. A most welcome stay and much needed break. As for the driveway, it is concrete and wide, and does have a sharp turn at the top to park under the house, but I (a woman) navigated it easily the first time in my husband's Chevy 2500 (large, tall, and not a great turning radius), so anybody should be able to negotiate it. Everything was as pictured with the exception of an updated flat-top stove and the chairs at the kitchen island (they are now stools). The picture on VRBO of the outside of the house does not capture the real essence/look of the house (the railing has been updated and the house is lovelier than the picture). Thank you, Jon, for sharing your lovely place with us! We hope to return!

We had a wonderful time in this old family cabin. Great facility and location in the woods. Very quiet and peaceful. Very well equipped just need to bring your food and clothes! Ingles in town not too far away. Owner was very responsive to communications. Loved the place thank you!

Winter Retreat
We had a 5 great days at this cabin in the woods. Jon was easy to reach with a few issues due to the weather but everything worked out well. If you are there in the winter a 4 wheel drive vehicle might be necessary. Supplies for fire building are helpful. Otherwise everything you need for a vacation in the mountains is there.

Cabin was nice and cozy, no trouble staying warm. Wish we could have sat on the pretty deck, but liked sitting by the wood burning stove. Owner has nice selection of streaming services. Internet was super fast.

Perfect private getaway in the beautiful mountains.
This was the perfect cabin for a snow weekend getaway. Very clean and everything we needed was there. The owner was very easy to contact and was kind enough to let us check out late due to the roads being snowy/icy. If you rent this cabin in the winter while winter weather is expected I would highly recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle. We will definitely rent again for a peaceful private getaway.

Close to Black Rock Mt State Park
This cabin is right outside of Black Rock Mt State Park and close to Clayton. It’s the perfect location. The views from the cabin are beautiful. You really feel like you are in the treetops. The beds were very comfortable. The owner was very responsive when we couldn’t figure out how to operate Apple TV.

Gateway to Black Rock Mountain
My wife and I, our grown adult kids and our dogs stayed at the Tree Tops Cabin for a 4-day weekend. We had a great time exploring the state park and relaxing in the mountain woods in the cabin. You could not ask for easier access to the park from a privately owned cabin. The front porch on this cabin was a great place to sit and relax with huge trees and nice cool shade. You don't get a mountain view, but there was cool breeze all afternoon and evening. Sitting on the elevated front porch deck it did feel like you were in a tree house. Our only complaint was that the mattresses need to be upgraded, but it did not take away from enjoying this cabin. We would definitely stay there again if we go back to that area again.

Great place, great stay
We had a great stay at Treetops. My family and I enjoyed our time there. Black Rock Mountain State Park is around the corner and the Foxfire museum is on the same mountain. This is a great, quiet place to get away and relax. If you go down the mountain there is plenty to do also. I would definitely recommend staying here.

3rd time is a charm

Wonderful cabin
This house has everything you need as well as seclusion. The large windows capture the best views from everywhere in the house. The fireplace heated the whole house on cold nights. The porch is so relaxing to see wildlife and enjoy the mountains in the distance. I would highly recommend this house! Can’t wait to come back!

Overall this property is filthy, both inside and outside. We did have clean bathrooms, bedrooms and linens for our stay. The entire rest of the interior was/is covered top to bottom with layers of dust that has been on surfaces a long time. Cobwebs and more dust were visible on every interior window ledge. The areas directly above the food preparation counters were the most heavily covered in dust and cobwebs, so much that we did not prepare any food on these countertops. We used the nearby table for all food prep. The kitchen cabinets have active ant infestation and were in everything not sealed. The cabinet shelves did have paper liners but again were not clean looking as were the drawer liners, they were stained and messy looking in appearance. Every kitchen cabinet was in need of organizing. The refrigerator, stove and microwave all worked as they should. However, the interior of microwave is full of rust particles due to plastic protective coating fall apart. The microwave door was covered in grease and rust and had not been cleaned in very long time. Same with the inside of the electric stove, we could not use it due to the longtime cooked, spilled foods. On exterior of cabin they have a very nice wood deck overlooking beautiful wooded property, but the deck is covered in combination of dirt and mold growth. All exterior windows and wood walls are covered with cobwebs. This cabin has a pleasant natural looking yard setting but it has not been maintained or cleaned up as it is littered with leftover wood chopping debris scattered over a large area. This cabin has such great potential due to its proximity to state park but in my opinion is unlivable in its condition. We have friends who live nearby in Clayton but we could not invite them over to visit us due to cabin conditions. We knew that a rental cabin would not be as clean as our own house but we did not expect the interior conditions to be so poorly maintained.

We would expect that if you found the cabin “unlivable” you could have contacted us early in your stay and we would have done whatever we could to make you and your traveling party happy, by possibly sending out our cleaning crew to re-clean the cabin to your expectations while you grabbed some dinner on us! Our goal is to please our guests with offering our family cabin to the public and we believe we offer a exceptional value and accommodation for our hosted travelers, as past reviews have reflected. That being said, we do want to continue to please future guests so we have forwarded this review to the cleaning company we use to “turn” the cabin between rentals and we will insist upon improvements per your direction. We appreciate your feedback and hope future stays find you in accommodations more suitable to your expectations.

We had a nice time, enjoyed our stay, but a few improvements could be made Musty smell, and possibly smokers Seriously needs better lighting! Otherwise, location was ideal for hikers, and was very serene and peaceful.

Thanks for your feedback Ed. During the rainy season the damp surroundings of the trees and shade can occasionally lead to a little musty smell on the inside, if you open up the windows for 10 minutes it's gone and you have nothing but the fresh mountain air. Not sure where your smelled smoke as we are a non-smoking cabin and guests are not permitted to smoke indoors. Our lighting has been complimented several times by previous guests as we rely on the natural light coming from the large picture frame windows, but at night we have ample lighting including a 1250 lumen LED light on the haiku fan in the main room. Perhaps you didn't use that as the light switch is on the remote control for the fan. We welcome you back if you are in the area and hope to continue improving for you and the rest of our guests.

A safe and relaxing get-away
This property delivers exactly what is said it would: a rustic cabin in an off-the-beaten-path location. Spacious and well-set-up. It is minutes away from Black Rock Mountain--a bit of a scary drive back down in the dark--but worth it for a breathtaking sunset panorama. For those of us with tech addictions (and because I had to monitor things for my job), it has amazing wifi for its location and an interactive TV. Full kitchen, 2 toilets, and a lovely shower/bath. The water was delicious! They even have a supply of kitchen musts like salt and sugar in case you forget. We all loved the picture windows high up on the walls that let in the gentle light and allowed for viewing of the trees. It was close enough to everything while still allowing for peaceful seclusion. After 3.5 months of sheltering-in-place, this was the perfect escape to shelter somewhere else safe with ready access to uncrowded attractions where people respected your social distancing. Although not everyone around wore masks, they would keep extra distance if they saw that you were wearing one. Now our stay is approaching its end, I will need to get a crow bar to extricate my son from his top-bunk fort, which he is refusing to vacate despite offerings of fresh strawberries and country apple fritters. He really does not want to leave! He snuck in a sheaf of paper last night and has been launching aerial attacks with paper airplanes on all who try to approach. It's so great to see him this relaxed after all of the recent stress with his school closing and missing elementary school graduation. Thank you so much for this incredibly recharging escape!

Wonderful cabin with beautiful views!
This was one of the best vacations I have ever been on. The cabin was fully stocked with any amenity that we needed. Everything worked perfectly. The best part was we were right in the mountains! We were only 2 miles from Black Rock State Park and 20 minutes from Tallulah Falls. Such a wonderful adventure taking walks through the Smokey Mountains. Even better, the owner Jon was fantastic. He was very accommodating and super responsive. We will definitely be booking a trip again.

Great Mountain getaway
Treetops was the perfect mountain getaway for our family. We had seven of us (two couples and three grown kids) and we were very comfortable, not crowded at all. The cabin had everything we needed, was clean, attractive, and in a great location. It's located right outside Black Rock Mountain State Park, Tallulah Gorge State Park is nearby, and there are lots of other activities very convenient to access. Whitewater rafting on the Chatooga river is close by, or if you prefer the Ocoee or the Nantahala, they are not too far either. Franklin, NC is only about 1/2 hour drive away.Lots of nice day hikes and waterfalls to see in the area. The nearby town of Clayton is small but has many good places to eat. We did not scratch the surface of all the things to do during our stay, but it is also a great place to go and relax and do nothing at all.
