Welcome to this little slice of heaven in Oxfordshire, tucked away near Pangbourne on the River Thames and set on the very edge of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Here, you can truly escape, unwind and reconnect with nature while enjoying all the comforts of a family-friendly canvas lodge. This is glamping at its very best, a blissful bolthole designed for relaxation, adventure and making memories.

Pheasant Lodge, new for 2020, is the first of our boltholes and offers guests exclusive use of the glamping site. With just over an acre to yourselves within our wider 18-acre setting, privacy and space are guaranteed. The lodge takes its name from the “bouquet” of pheasants that regularly strut and entertain in the fields nearby, adding to the sense of rural charm. This dog-friendly* safari tent sleeps up to five and is perfect for families looking to slow down and soak up the countryside.

From the lodge, enjoy breathtaking views across the Thames Valley, stretching up to 30 miles on a clear day. Wildlife is very much part of the experience, with wild pheasants, muntjac deer and even our local herd of around fifteen deer often wandering past your cosy tent.

Inside, Pheasant Lodge combines comfort with character, featuring two bedrooms with luxurious king-size beds (one with a single bunk above), an indoor bathroom with hot running water, shower and eco-friendly incinerator toilet, and a fully equipped kitchen. A wood-burning stove and leather Chesterfield sofa create a wonderfully snug space for evenings indoors, while both indoor and outdoor dining areas make it easy to enjoy meals whatever the weather.

Outside, you’ll find The Pheasling, your dedicated outdoor cooking and gathering space. This includes a traditional stone-ringed campfire with grill, a firebowl with tripod for open-fire cooking, and all the tools you need. There’s also a sheltered seating area inside a converted field shelter nearby. For little explorers (and the young at heart), discover secret treats such as a wildlife hide overlooking the hillside, an A-frame den for children to make their own, and a ring of oak trees perfect for den-building, fairy-spotting and imaginative play.
