We enjoyed our stay in the home. We were attracted to it because it was listed as a historic home. The owners are doing a great job of renovating the home to modern standard, while still keeping the historic look and feel. The wood floors and the stairs are gorgeous. It amazes me how roomy historic homes can feel, yet they are smaller in square footage by comparison to most modern homes. It also amazes me how well they are architected to provide lighting, air flow and natural cooling. We found that ceiling fans and the breezeway worked just fine to provide a nice evening cool down. In addition to the home, you get a large piece of property that sits on the water. We enjoyed watching the wildlife cross the property throughout the day (including, fox, deer, rabbits, and many others). We also enjoyed relaxing on the dock while enjoying the constant cool breeze. If you have not spent time on the Chesapeake or Potomac, it's worth seeing them in real life. We were amazed at how big the Chesapeake is. One tip I would suggest for potential renters looking at this property, if you are NOT familiar with the bayside area: while it was hot in the middle of the day, the breeze off the water kept it comfortable. It did get chilly at night, so it's worth bringing some long sleeves and a pair of pants. Outside play at night, does require mosquito spray. It's not unbearable. It's more of an annoyance. Also, bring a flashlight it you plan to be outside at night. It gets very dark at night.
