There are plenty of options during this period and much closer to the coast. We are a family of five, living in Peterborough, and wanted a weekend get away with our small kids. It worked out well. The cottage is a ten minute walk to the pier (the pier was closed, it’s site said otherwise) and conveniently across the street from a market.
As for the cottage itself: The place is well kept, tidy, courteous and it beach house decor is fitting. We experienced an unpleasant chill throughout our stay. Luckily, keeping a fire going in the front room kept us cozy.
Recommend: investing in covering the bottom floor with same weave carpet as stairs and rooms. Runner for kitchen and wooden matt in bathroom. It would help during the chillier months.
Side note: No parking. You’ll miss the cottage if you blink. Also, we managed to park an oversized vehicle down the road. We parked and then walked our luggage and belongings back up the road.
