We checked in after 5pm and were disappointed to find that there was no cot or high chair for our baby despite only speaking to Anglesey holiday lettings that morning to ensure these would be available. Having received no response on the emergency number we found out that the owner was in the flat above. She was very accommodating and provided us with both, thankfully. She was also unable to make contact with AHL.
Location is great, two minutes walk from the beach. Parking is on street but we had no issues with this. The only downside to the location was that every man and his dog had a good look in on their way past so the blinds had to remain shut. It was also very noisy late into the night at the weekend, and the queue for the chip shop followed the building line going past three of the windows. Most nights people found it amusing to knock on the windows.
Cleanliness - to look at it was clean, however, it was very dusty in places you wouldn’t normally look I.e under the beds, tv and sofas. However, with small children we ended up constantly retrieving toys from these areas and did see this.
The property was well equipped, although, we could have done with more than one cupboard for storage in the kitchen for a weeklong stay.
Condition - we were told that this property had been newly renovated. Unfortunately we found it to be damp with patches of mould in the living room. The bedroom wall was so damp that a clean hand towel left on a shelf next to it was wet. We did inform AHL about this and they put it down to being recently renovated and moisture in the paint. They said this was the drying process. Having renovated many properties I know this not to be the case. The plaster was bubbled in parts, there was rust on the walls and there were clear damp patches. We took pictures of this and offered to send them. I would have to comment that AHL’s customer service was extremely poor. They never returned phone calls when they said they would and didn’t bother to inform us that someone had been into the flat whilst we were out until we asked.
The kitchen window was broken so it couldn’t be opened or fully closed which allowed a draft in. The property could have done with airing out but I imagine it would be hard to leave any of the other windows open due to the position on the Main Street. It can also be noisy when people are moving about in the apartment upstairs.
The property was decorated really well with lovely blinds on all the windows. The only thing that could have made this better was some curtains as the blinds didn’t stop the light coming in early in the morning. The bathroom was modern and well equipped with a great shower.
We would return to Rhosneigr, it’s a beautiful place and this is a lovely apartment that just needs attention in the areas mentioned. If this was resolved I would recommend to others due to the reasonable price for the area.
