"We arrived the tv in the room didn’t work we were told it was due to a storm but later found out it was the control box. That was it left to our own devices no sorry we were told free drinks were offered but we didn’t receive anything. At breakfast there wasn’t enough room so again left to our own devices to find seating in the cold bar. We were asked at breakfast if the room needed service or a drink we said service but got neither. All in all the staff could do better. "

"Fantastic location next to the cathedral with grounds and parking. It's a beautiful very old building but some of the decor is tired. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a set menu served in two parts, first part is continental style which was lovely, the second part was more traditional English breakfast which had real potential however it was spoiled as the sausage was overcooked and dry, but the bacon was murdered and just shattered as it was extremely overdone, inedible really. We stayed two nights and the bacon was the same each morning! just not to my liking. Hawkstone beer was very good though. Our room was large with a nice view of the rear garden, the water was hot, tea & coffee facilities were good, bed was comfy, decor a little tired. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and thought it was good value."

"An absolute gem in beautiful Ripon! The suite was perfect! Immaculately presented and quiet. The bed was supremely comfortable, with high quality bed linen! The breakfast was one of the best that I’ve ever had, and the service from Rick was impeccable. If you’re having doubts about booking, don’t! I shall certainly be back!"

"We went to the ripon races and this was an excellent base to go from . The cottage was gorgeous and the host gail was amazing very helpful and guided us on taxis . The nicest part was the extra touches gail put in the cottage for us prosecco biscuits all little extra things you might forget like toothbrushes very thoughtful of her . Thanks for our stay lisa and paul xx"

"We loved our time in Ripon, it was a lovely place with quite a few options for pubs, restaurants and places to explore, all within walking distance. The cottage itself was beautiful, well equipped and spotlessly clean, and Katharine made us, and our dog, feel very welcome. We can't recommend the Hayloft enough, if we are back in Ripon, we will definitely book it again, 5 stars! :-)"
