"This stay was truly unforgettable. The “front desk” is a folding table in a little old boat cabin. A cheerful old man sits there in the blazing heat and welcomes each customer with a smile and a good old fashioned door key. We got room 3 - a small room in the shared building by the road. At first I worried about road noise. Nonsense! It’s a cinder block building - no noise. We covered the window with a towel (the porch light is always on), cranked the AC down to 65F and slept like babies in falling apart beds with comforters from the 90s, after taking hot showers in a dumpy little bathroom that was neither clean nor well-appointed. Had to go back to ask for more towels, the towels came immediately by way of a very pleasant gal who called the man at the “desk” Dad. If this were my property, it would be the cutest, most in-demand motel in Marathon. Lots of potential here! But, it is what it is… I don’t know that I’d come back but we got what we came for: a shower and a good night’s rest. "

"Great central location and very quiet area. Had the pool to ourselves most of the time. Condo.had everything you could need & was super clean. Host was very responsive at all times. Would definitely book again in the future. "

"We liked the location. The outside was disappointing as the work was right in front of our unit and causing dust and dirt. The inside area was nicely decorated. The kitchen well stocked. Towels were not good but plenty. Pillows needed to be replaced. Master bedroom was nice with a deck. The rug however is really stained. The Florida weather has been rough over the years and the unit needs deck paint.I have a rental on a beach in Maryland. I understand upkeep. We would like to rent again . Maybe a few perks will be welcomed.Thank you again "

"When we checked in, we found that the property was not as described. The issue was not the work at the dock indicated in the listing, but the fact that the entire street in the front was teared apart and covered in a whitish dust that would not even come off from the rental car mats, no street lights so flashlights were needed at night, a pile of sand and machinery right in front, and no heater for the three days we stayed (4 booked). Due to a severe cold front, inside the house it was never above 61, much cooler at night. The host agreed to let us leave earlier and reduce the daily rate for the three days we stayed. After we returned home, I followed up with host who had not responded to two emails, to inquire about the refund. After 4 more unanswered emails, an VrBo agent called him and put me on the line so I could speak with him. He said he did the accounting at the end of each month, something he could have answered in one sentence from the beginning. When he processed the refund, the refund was short by $50 and did not include the tax portion. I contacted him and he responded that he will check with VrBo. 10 days later I still haven’t received a response from him after sending another 3 text messages. This behavior is not only unprofessional and against VrBo etiquette, but plain rude. In sum, a terrible experience both with the property and especially with the host. I will never book this rental again and I do not recommend it based on our experience."
