Me and my 2 friends had the best experience here. Trust me the pictures don’t do it justice. Hotel Ocotel is the best, lowkey, hotel spot you can choose, and is an absolute steal. The breakfast was great, and the staff were always accommodating. If I ever return to Costa Rica I’ll definetly be staying here again!!

Pros: This hotel is not too far from the Liberia airport. The property is walking distance to Ocotal Beach and a nice beach restaurant called Father Rooster. We walked back from the beach after dark and felt safe. The rooms were small but clean and the air conditioning worked well. There is a covered common space with places to sit. My kids enjoyed the pool. It is small and older but they didn’t mind. Staff were very kind. They let my mom stay to read in the common space after check out while the rest of us went horseback riding nearby.

We had a short stay for a family of 5. Room was comfortable and the breakfast was good although pretty basic. There was a pool which wasn’t the cleanest and had a dead crab floating inside! But overall it was a good stay. They had a common area with a full kitchen and a coffee station. Good for families.

My sister and I just stayed 5 nights here with our 2 young kids and had a great time. The location was close to the beach and nearby town with stores and restaurants . The property grounds were clean and tastefully decorated. The staff were also amazing- the receptionist Gildie (sorry if that’s spelt wrong) was friendly and helpful with all our questions . The breakfast lady was also wonderful . Our only suggestion would be to switch up the breakfast options as they offered the same thing every day and it was limited , so after a few days we ended up buying some stuff in town to have. Overall a great place and we highly recommend it to anyone!

What a cute little B&B! Staff was beyond kind and courteous. The grounds felt safe and were gated. For the price and proximity to the airport (35-40 min), it was perfect for our stay. The breakfast was lovely and the fellow guests were so nice to converse with in the super charming dining area. We had a little trouble finding it, with 2 steep climbs that lead us to residential properties. The B&B was actually close to the main road and the gate attendant had just stepped away for a moment. Room was very, very small. No biggie, but a couple luggage racks would be helpful. A\C worked great. Larger blankets would have been helpful for our family of 3. Would not suggest more than 2 per room. Since the toilet paper is not supposed to go down the toilet, a garbage container with a lid in the bathroom would be better. This was the nicest (and hottest!) shower experience with great soap products. No safe, but it’s very small and we were not concerned. The beach was a black sand beach, about 8-9 min walk. Not a super pretty beach, a little rough, but hey it’s a beach. We paid a guy $20 for 2 chairs and an umbrella for a couple hours. The adjacent beach restaurant, Father Rooster, was fantastic with an excellent staff and food. We wouldn’t plan to return to this beach location, but the accommodations were great.

We arrived late and just used this place to sleep before leaving from liberia early. The commons and location and staff were Great! Super friendly and sweet. The room was just a big open space for all 5 of us to share. The rate was good but taxes and fees tripled the price. Delicious free breakfast!

We spent a week in Nosara and wanted to be closer to the airport on our last night. From a previous trip, we remembered and LOVED Father Rooster, a beach restaurant in Ocotal. We decided to stay the Ocotal BnB to be walking distance to this beautifully scenic beach for our last night. We didn't have really any expectations for the hotel, but it exceeded our expecations in every possible way. The staff was so friendly and accomodating checking us in, giving us a free upgrade since they had another empty room. The place was gorgeous and clean inside. A very very upscale hostel feel with shared living, dining and hangout space, but our own bedrooms/bathrooms behind locked doors. I would absolutely stay here again. Very safe, lovely and convenient.

This hotel is nice and quiet but the rooms are extremely small and theres some sort of animal infestation. We heard something walking aroind the walls, on the ceiling all night long. The breakfast was nice and the security man is very nice. We asked for an hour later check out and they were a bit greedy and asked for $15. This has always been a free feature at every hotel we have ever stayed at. The bathroom was also very dirty. There was hair on the floor and hardened on pee stains on the seat.
