"Hotel is well located to the town centre. Room was clean and tidy, shower was decent. Staff were very friendly. Very good choice for a cheap and cheerful budget hotel. 10/10"

"All Good, very reasonable prices, I recommend customers leave luggage in car until checked in, as accommodation is on opposite side of car park, no complaints, very nice staff, and accommodation presentable, very good food and drink choices, IMPORTANT-- the room key (card) is also used to enter the accommodation block as well as your room. "You can clearly see that the Orwell Hotel was in its day a grand building and even though there has been some refurbishment in the downstairs area of the hotel, the rooms are looking very tired. Instead of spending the money on a massive, life size elephant out the front of the hotel (yes really) they should be spending the money on updating the showers, toilet roll holders, painting the window frames etc etc. The bed was comfortable which is always good and the tv in my room was basic but usable. Sound proofing could be better as I had one night of disturbance from a neighbouring room. The biggest problem is that the management are not responsive. I had to raise a complaint about someone ( presumably a random hotel guest ) accessing the lobby desk telephone system and calling my room 2 times at 2:00 in the morning as a prank caller. I have since emailed the managers 2 times and still have had no response after 5 days. Needless to say my experience has not been overly positive. A real shame.😳 "

"Had to cancel my stay, yet they billed my credit card for 12 nights. Admin error at best, theft at worst. I'm letting my bank deal with it. Would not recommend unless this gets resolved. "

"The Lounge area was very nice, lovely reception staff and great breakfast but any joy ends there. The corridor towards my room smelt so bad. My room was tired and the kettle was damaged and riddled with lime scale. There was also a very musty smell in the bathroom. However, the worst thing was that the sound of traffic filled my room all night snd kept waking me up. I’ve stayed here a few times and never heard the traffic so probably down to the location of my room 😞 "

"Just had our second stay here and looking forward to our next one. Room was very clean and comfortable and lovely and warm. Big super king bed and very comfortable. It's handy having the Bar and Restaurant on the same property if you don't feel like going far....we had a nice meal there and the young Bar Man there was just brilliant, could not have been more helpful and caring. Tea/Coffee/Biscuits replenished each day. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice. All the staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. Plenty of parking available. A very well equipped gym available free of charge. All in all a very pleasant stay. Thankyou 🌟"
