In these crazy times of COVID-19, we were going stir crazy. We needed to get away yet still be mindful of limiting our exposure. This week was my wife's birthday, so we decided to head out to the Smoky Mountains.
True, the area has much to offer as far as entertainment goes; however, we knew we wouldn't be enjoying much of it. We sought a place where we could "shelter in a different place" and still feel like we were on vacation... enter this cabin.
The place is clean, cozy, and inviting. The owners clearly built a second home where they can get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy time as a family.
Smart TVs are located in every bedroom, but not the living/dining room. Those are places to enjoy good conversation. The kitchen is small but well equipped with pretty much everything you would need (including a few surprises like a waffle maker, a slow cooker, etc., which you don't normally find in rental properties).
The hot tub provides soothing relaxation after a good hike (if you're into it; otherwise, relax anyway!). There's a fire pit, and a charcoal grill (similar to the ones you find at some parks).
...and then there's the game room. Wow. Someone really thought of having a place to have fun! A pool table, dart board, retro video arcade machine, a table for playing board games, two big comfy couches, a big screen smart TV, Blu-ray player, and even a LaserDisc player and movies (just seeing the expression on your kids' face when you show them a LaserDisc is priceless, trust me!). They also have a projector and screen but those are not for use by renters (understandable).
Having all TV's be smart TV's (Roku) allows you to log in to your Netflix / Hulu / Prime / Disney+ accounts without having to bring anything (just remember to sign out of your account when you leave).
The owner was very accessible and quick to respond to any inquiry.
If we head back to this area, my search will be simple: I don't need to look for a place to rent... only to check if this one is available. :)
