While we knew that the cabin is located in a gated community, we were never given instructions beforehand regarding how to pre-register and get our names on the guest roster. As a result, when we arrived at the gate, the guards there couldn't find us in their log and wouldn't let us go through. Since this was in a spot with no cell service, we had to backtrack by several miles until we could find cell service and call someone who could help. Eventually, it worked out and we were let through the gate, but it set a negative tone for the beginning of our stay. Whoever thought up this system needs to revamp it so that guests have all the necessary check-in information beforehand -- not just by text, but in writing.
