"A beautiful place and a real honour to stay here as a westerner. Robes and amenities were provided and the baths were excellent including an outdoor area. Very helpful and friendly staff made us feel welcomed. There was even a mini stamp rally around the building which was great for us and our teen child to explore. "If you travel to Shirakawa-go and want to experience a truly wonderful Japanese experience, this hotel is for you. The rooms are excellent and super clean. We experienced the private baths from the hot springs and was also great! The dinner was amazing and the town magical. We loved it!"

KAI Saga is supposed to be the flagship KAI hotel with the most historical hot spring source but the room facilities are not at very good conditions. "Amazing onsen facilities. They have both private and public bath. Guests can reserve one private bath per night and use public bath unlimited. Their lady public bath has an indoor one and a semi-open one - do try the semi-open one! Lots of fresh air and you can hear the sounds of insects and river. Both breakfast and dinner were wonderful. And make sure to attend the performance at the lobby at night (8:45 pm during our stay). The traditional artist sang a few local traditional folk songs with shamisen. Very peaceful and pleasant experience"

"Delightful hotel, not easy to find though, just know its along the river! Very old fashioned but superbly maintained and its part of the charm. Onsen was fabulous, staff were all ultra accommodating. Organised a massage in my room, incredible. Shout out to Yoko, who looked after me at mealtimes, shes a star!"
