"Breakfast meals were top notch with local specialties to try. The meals were the same daily. The rooms were decent and clean but basic wear and tear showing in some areas.
The onsen was clean HOWEVER the photos with the nice onsen with multiple pools and sweeping views is ONLY the men’s side. The women’s side is accessible via a code that changes daily (get the code from the front desk daily). There is only one pool, no view, 6 wash stations or so and a shower. Generally not busy or full ever. But disappointing the women’s side didn’t have a similar experience with multiple pools or views."
"Very helpful and friendly staff at the counter, who took time to explain the facilities available at the hotel in English.
Room is spacious and clean, breakfast spread is great."
"The hotel's location is excellent, situated right outside the train station/ bus stop and surrounded by several convenience stores and dining options, making it very convenient for travellers. The room and bed were clean and comfortable.
A few aspects could be improved. There is no room service, and amenities such as toiletries need to be collected from Level 5. The hotel was also quite busy during our stay, and our room overlooked a parking lot, which was not particularly appealing.
We found the service to be somewhat inflexible. When we requested a butter knife and forks, the staff repeatedly declined and provided only a plastic spoon. We also asked if any butter sachets were available, as we were unable to find any at a nearby convenience store, but again received only a repeated "no" without any alternative suggestions. The staff could be a bit more polite, a more helpful and solution-oriented approach would have enhanced our experience.
Overall, the hotel offers a convenient location and clean accommodations, but the service experience could be improved."
"This is a fantastic option for starting or ending your Alpine route journey. Loved the serenity of the location, facility & service. Onsens on site; some rooms have private baths. Chose the half board rate, and the experience of a multi-course dinner and full service breakfast was well worth it!"
"My wife and I had a very pleasant two-night stay at Hotel Tateyama. We stayed one night before our Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route trip and another night after returning, and both stays were excellent.
The hotel is very well maintained and offers a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. One of the highlights was the large mosaic-tiled onsen spa. The design is beautiful and reminds me of an aquarium. It has two levels, and the layout is thoughtfully planned so that different sections are not directly visible from one another, creating a greater sense of privacy and seclusion. The outdoor bath offers a wonderful view of the Tateyama mountains. We visited in early June, and enjoying the gentle early-summer breeze while soaking in the onsen was truly memorable.
The service was exceptional. On the morning of our departure for the Alpine Route, the reception manager was incredibly courteous and helpful. Although the hotel normally provides a shuttle connection to Tateyama Station, we were departing around noon after the busy morning period. He personally drove us to the station and even helped us exchange our Alpine Route tickets.
When we returned for our second stay, another reception manager recognized that we had stayed at the hotel just the night before. He had already prepared our registration information, saving us the trouble of filling out the forms again, and warmly thanked us for returning. These thoughtful touches made us feel genuinely welcomed and appreciated."
"The pros:
A short walk 5 min from Toyama station at the quieter side.
The cons:
Not enough parking available if you drive. Have to park nearby parking lot and it is not guaranteed as well.
Also no convenience stall within 3 mins walk. Nearest is Toyama station"
"Beautiful hotel and excellent dining experience. Loved the freshly grated wasabi! There was an earthquake during our stay but had not affect the hotel operations. Will definitely come back again."
