Five star mansion house. Like being in the Downton
This was an amazing treat! Four sisters coming together from all sides of the globe to have a fun countryside experience! We booked the family suite and it was perfect! From the arrival glass of bubbles to the evening meal and audio house tour - amazing! Wish we had stayed longer!
Very helpful staff and lovely, clean room. I went mid-week and it was so quiet and peaceful. Incredible building and surroundings - I especially enjoyed meeting the donkeys and alpacas.
This was a reservation for my parents. We actually get married there next year. Dissapointed by the intense welcome and frustrated lady that was not happy that my parents were not dining. They have been several times and they said the stay part was fine but that the welcome was not nice. Not entirely happy with our experience so far either. It is a good job I love the building and need to get married.
Had the most amazing stay at this wonderful hotel. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and we will definitely go back. It is just the most romantic, joyful place and the staff were incredibly helpful and personable. The restaurant was also incredibly good value for money.
Staff where absolutely amazing, Hotel and grounds stunning, just an absolute delight to stay there. Thank you to the whole team for a perfect stay. I will be back
Beautiful hotel and setting with excellent quality food and superb service. It’s been a long time since I’ve been treated so well!
The hotel has a great self guided tour which is really worth the time. Highly recommend this place for a night or two away in luxury and comfort.
Wonderful stay. Beautiful building, lavish room. Great afternoon tea, dinner and lovely breakfast. Staff are really friendly and accommodating. Only minor let down was turn down service offered but never performed
Will definitely be retuning again when we are in the area
Our first visit here and definitely won’t be the last. It is an amazing place - friendly helpful staff, a beautiful clean room and the decor is outstanding. The chef is a credit to the hotel and the grounds are just waiting to be explored. We have travelled extensively both in the UK and abroad and can honestly say it is the best hotel we’ve stayed at. Nothing more to say except to highly recommend it.
Very warm, friendly welcome (The snow machine at the entrance was a nice seasonal touch). All the staff were polite, attentive and helpful. The restaurant food was excellent. It all made our anniversary stay special.
The building has been beautifully decorated and quality furnished in keeping with its history.
The surrounding grounds were an enjoyable walk. We look forward to revisiting and seeing them during summer.
The hotel is a picturesque historic house and set in a rural location with a lengthy driveways to and from the main roads.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Staff were lovely, hotel on our first night/day was fab, however the second night we were kept awake most of the night, due to a fault on the hotel music system. This ruined the rest of our stay, and the hotel even though contacted several times have done nothing to address this, which is a massive concern for a 5* hotel. Expect better.
Hotel and grounds lovely, very peaceful. I booked a table for the 1762 menu and when we sat down to dinner we were told it was not available. I made a huge mistake booking the wrong dates to visit the follies i had even enquired at the hotel but they failed to mention they were not open on the dates i booked. Staff were great though especially Dominica xx
Outstanding service the staff are so friendly and professional could not do enough for you. Such a well kept property clean and maintained so well, both grounds and house. Food was excellent and again the service just made it so special.
We had a classic double room and we were very happy with it the little touches of a welcome letter and Elemis products, the only issue we had was our radiators didn’t work so was a little chilly but William straight away brought us up an oil filled heater and it soon warmed the room through. There is a cinema room but unfortunately we could experience it as it was booked up but next time we will try to book in. Definitely will be a next time
Everything about this ‘stately home’ hotel states luxury and first class service, from the amazing, unique approach road through a rock bridge, to the extensive landscaped grounds which are a delight to explore and are up to national arboretum standards. The public rooms, many of which have views of the grounds, evoke the splendid history of the house and our bedroom was large, light and airy with an equally large bathroom to match. We enjoyed the dining experience including breakfast in a garden facing room, with very attentive and friendly service at all times. But most of all it was the staff who made our stay extra special. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and that nothing was too much trouble to make our stay perfect. From being met at the door by Will who gave us a fascinating history of the house, to the attention to our every need by Tim and the rest of the team we could not have been better treated if we had been the owner of the hotel. It seems from the many 5* reviews that others have enjoyed the same experience and we agree with all the comments comparing this hotel with other outstanding places around the world. I want to thank everyone involved for making my wife’s 70th birthday a memorable occasion and we can’t wait to return when the opportunity arises.
The service and immaculate grounds were real positives. It was very quiet when we stayed but this cannot be helped. Overall, very pleasured with the stay
