  • Villa Santa Chiara is settled in an architectural complex dating back to the 17th century, surrounded by a large garden with swimming pool. Villa Santa Chiara is very close to the city of Siena and immersed in a vast green area.
    The property is thus blessed with a very special location: on the one side, a wide portion of the old medieval city wall. framed by two of the ancient gates (Porta Pispini and Porta Romana); on the other, an organic olive grove and rolling hills stretching as far as the eye can see; further south, in the distance, Mount Amiata pops up.

This is a superb property and location. Our hosts were great - super helpful and communicative. We were there on a cycling weekend and it met our every need. Highly recommended. Thanks to Anna and Mario for hosting us.

We have visited Tuscany several times, this time as a family of ten including four children under 11. The three separate apartments worked very well. Common area at the pool and on the side lawn provided space for play and happy hour. The hosts were on site and very responsive to questions and offered helpful suggestions for sites to visit. I suggest you plan your vacation time in Siena around availability here!

Amazing Villa. We were a family of 8 adults and 2 children under 4. We rented 3 apartments and had the entire property. The hosts, Anna and Mario, went out of their way to accommodate our needs, especially with the children! They helped us with recommendations for tour, drivers, chef meals prepared at the Villa, and stocked some basic food items for our arrival. The grounds were perfect for relaxing with so many areas to gather. The flowers were amazing everywhere you turned. The location was perfect with the easy walk into Siena and day trips to neighboring cities. The apartments were very spacious, clean, furnished comfortably and the views from the windows were breathtaking. We hope to return!!!!

The property was listed as private and aside from Anna and her husband living in the property we would be the only guests. However, there were many people coming up and down the driveway and staying in places on the property. We had little children playing and had to be aware of the cars and mopeds coming in and out of the property. We were shown an outdoor kitchen and grill that we could use and when we went to make breakfast the host was in it cooking and shooed us away from the door. We were accused of not giving a remote to the gate back but we had never received it when we were pulling away Anna found it in her apartment. It was a great location near the city center and large enough to accommodate our family but wasn’t a 10/10 for sure.

Amazing trip

The location was stunning, large and close to Siena. We had a fantastic time. Our hosts Anna & Mario were helpful and charming. A favorite was our cooking class and Dinner with Veronica. Highly, highly recommend.

THE VILLA IS SO GOOD - don't even think twice. Rent this place. You'll love it.SO.GOOD.The pictures and descriptions made the Villa sound amazing -- and there is always that concern that when you get there it won't be as good as you've been led to believe. The reality of the Villa was even better than the listing.We were there with a large group of family and friends and rented the entire place. The rooms and individual apartments were great. There was plenty of group/common area outside for all of us to gather -- a few groupings of outdoor furniture.The pool was FANTASTIC -- just perfect, with an amazing view. We were there during a heat wave and the pool was a godsend, with an amazing view.There is a new outdoor kitchen/dining area (indoors, but all the walls slide open so it can be outdoors) that we ate in a couple of times.Mario was in constant communication with us during our stay.The villa is a short walk to the Porta Romana entrance to the old walled part of Siena, albeit up a steep hill.Loved it.

Incredible on so many levels! The property is beautiful and sits on a hill just outside the walls of Siena with spectacular views all around. You are just a short walk into the town and over a thousand years of history. We rented the entire Villa for three weeks for our family of 13. It was all we dreamed of!First and foremost the hospitality of the hosts would be the most significant part of the experience. Mario and Anna are so warm and helpful and try to take care of every need whether it’s booking restaurants or getting taxis to wine pairings ( Anna is a sommelier, retired doctor and direct relative to the most famous Brunello vineyard in Tuscany). Mario is simply a prince of a guy and just does everything for you. A private chef is available for dinners in an outdoor kitchen and seating area enclosed in glass. Anna’s daughter Claudia is a tour guide and arranged drivers for us to explore the surrounding countryside and charming towns. All in all you have a perfect place with perfect hosts in a beautiful part of Italy! Thank you Anna and Mario!!

Great family holiday

Te hists were welcoming and helpful. The site was ideally situated a relatively short walk from Siena's centre, the vista of the Chianti hills enchanting, and the accommodation perfect for our family group. Lots of room for kids to run around and the pool perfect for relaxation and cooling off after a day if touristing. The evening dinner arranged with advice of the hosts was excellent and the setting delightful. No hestatin in recommending.

Could not ask for better hosts. Anna, Marco and Claudia were extremely helpful before our trip…. Helping me set up our stay. They welcomed us with homemade olive oil, bread and wine, and the best hospitality. The Villa is in a perfect location….. walking distance into Siena, and the property has everything you could want. Villa Santa Chiara is a beautiful property in a stunning location just minutes from Siena's historic center. Anna and Mario are exceptional hosts — responsive and helpful throughout the booking process and during our stay. They assisted us in arranging a private chef for two memorable dinners with outstanding wine pairings, helped coordinate transportation, and even located a dentist for one of our guests in a pinch. Anna also gave us a warm tour of the property and her family's vineyard and olive oil history.The property itself is stunning. Views from the pool over the Tuscan countryside are breathtaking, the veranda is ideal for group meals, and the fire pit area is lovely for evenings together.Note for prospective renters: Anna and her family live on the property and share some amenities and grounds. She was upfront about this when asked prior to booking — just worth knowing if full privacy is important to your group.Note for Americans: 'first floor' means one floor above ground level. All bedrooms require climbing stairs.Pro tip: the path behind the local grocery store leads directly up to Siena's historic center — Google Maps doesn't show it, but it avoids a road with no sidewalk.Overall a memorable stay in a spectacular setting with genuinely caring hosts.

We were a group of 12 retired friends staying at Villa Santa Chiara for a few nights. The entire checkin/out process was very easy. Anna and Mario allowed us a late checkout which was very helpful. The location is a short but uphill walk to the city center. The accommodations were perfect for us and we especially enjoyed sitting outside by the pool or by the gazebos. All 12 of us loved the location, the quality of the accommodations and especially the helpfulness of the owners. This would be our first choice if ever to come back to Siena.

We hosted our family at Villa Santa Chiara for a week this spring and we all had the best time! We had three separate families and the three separate apartments were perfect for our group's size. Mario and Anna were extremely welcoming and very flexible with our group arriving at different times (we were all coming from different parts of the US). The property is gorgeous and is walking distance to Siena which is incredibly convenient. The pool was also opened early because the weather had been good - so the kids were thrilled with being able to come home at the end of a day of sight seeing and swim in the pool! There is a perfect area for communal events (including poolside) but also the ability sneak away to your own space, which is great. The owners also stay on the property and were so helpful to us. The location has a beautiful view of the country side and my husband and I were able to run on the back roads (a hiking and biking route is very close by). The grocery store is a 5-10 min drive away and we cooked many of our dinners in the extremely well supplied kitchens. We had the best week in Siena and a lot of it had to do with our stay at Villa Santa Chiara. I highly recommend it - it's perfect if you have multiple groups and also perfect for kids! My niece and nephew loved the cats and chickens and were already asking if we could come back for next spring break.

Spectacular Siena

We were an extended family of 9 who rented the entire property (three villas). There is literally not enough positive to say about the property or the hosts, Mario and Anna. Each of the individual villas were gorgeous (FYI, the Olive Green Villa has the best views). The property has an abundance of gorgeous flowers and trees (including jasmine perfuming the air), as well as a menagerie of cats, a dog, some geese, ducks, and chickens that our family enjoyed. The pool was spectacular. Mario and Anna were excellent at answering our questions and providing us with information, and arranged for a private chef's dinner sitting outside that included more food and wine than we could consume (which they packaged up so we could enjoy later). Truly, this is a one-of-a-kind property and experience.

Travel Couples From Texas

Our Anglican Church friends (three couples) from Texas began our Italy tour in Rome and then continued to Florence for a few days. We spent our final four days at the beautiful Villa Santa Chiara, a short walk from the gates of downtown Siena, Italy. This wonderful villa could accommodate more people than our group of six, but it was an excellent choice for our three couples. Each couple had their own private apartment with a bathroom, kitchen, and spacious living area. The villa was exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated, offering outstanding views of the countryside and the town of Siena. The villa hosts, Mario and Anna, were extremely helpful from the initial booking to our arrival and throughout our stay. They arranged for a chef to come to our villa to cook a delicious Italian meal and provide an informative wine tasting with excellent wine selections. This part of our Italy tour was definitely a highlight, and we highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the heart of Tuscany. Thanks to Anna and Mario for a fantastic visit in Siena.

Sixteen of our family members ages 1-80 spent a week at Villa Santa Chiara in September 2025. The villa, hosting and activities exceeded every one of our high expectations. Anna and Mario were more like friendly family concierges than official hosts. In the months leading up to the visit, they patiently answered our numerous questions and provided advice on wine tasting, cooking classes at the villa, driver and van rental, and guided walking tours. We rented the entire villa - 3 apartments. We enjoyed walking to the old city center from the villa - about 30 min - to enjoy museums and excellent restaurants. In the late afternoon and evenings we relaxed outside around the fire pit to enjoy the views and fine wine. A small grocery store 5 min walk from the villa provided all the essentials we needed for cooking and snacking. The kids loved exploring the beautiful property including the playground and resident poultry. They swam in the pool or visited the hot tub daily. During our visit Anna and Mario helped us arrange 2 chef-created family dinners and 2 cooking classes with Chef Eliana. This was a special highlight and very comfortable in the villa’s separate dining/kitchen building with large indoor and outdoor tables. Thank you, Anna and Mario, for 15/10 hosting and wonderful family memories.
