  • This newly remodeled Gulf Front condo has tile throughout. The unit has a modern decor, with earth tones in the living room and brights in the bedrooms. Enjoy TV's in the living room and both bedrooms and a VCR and DVD player in the living room. This unit sleeps 4, with a King size bed in the master bedroom and 2 Twin size beds in the guest bedroom. Look out onto the Gulf from this beach front unit and enjoy the gorgeous sunset at the end of each day.

The king size mattress in the master bedroom is in desperate need of replacement. The mattress is very lumpy. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom is very tricky to operate and there are no instructions. The ceiling fan and overhead light turned on automatically at 4 am. Bathroom tile in both bathrooms needs a deep cleaning.

Reviewer Comments: We just had another fabulous week at the same condo we love to rent because of the view in the morning with your coffee and evening as well!How ever for those of you reading this and previously rented this unit , we were in for a huge surprise walking in the the door .The new owners have completely updated the unit , washer and dryer, flat screen tvs in all rooms. New beds (comforters)new leather sofa , rug. Decorated tastefully!Still have some painting to do .. we were so excited! The condo is gorgeous!We rebooked and cannot wait to see the completed changes next year !!

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I have stayed in this unit several times over the years. The view is excellent but the unit is in terrible need for updating. Since my negative review from last year, the only thing the owner had done is replace the washer/dryer. The furniture is garbage and the size of the TV’s are a joke. The rent has increased to over $5.0K per week. For $700+/night, I expect first class furnishings that on on par with the view. I said adios to House of the Sun after our family has been staying there since the 80’s. Allegedly, the unit has been sold and the new owner said they will replace the furnishings. That may or may not happen by next year. That is not good enough. The bathrooms and kitchen need major work too.

We stayed in 512 GF this time, and it needs a lot of updating. The master bath is really old and outdated and only one shower door works. The furniture is very old and the white leather has a few large stains. The TV's are tiny. In need of some updating.

Sink in hallway bath drain plug was broke. The blinds in living room kept coming off when open and closing. Radio in master bedroom was broke. Great to have washer & dryer in unit. Dryer worked but took a long time to dry anything. Loved beach access, security and pool. Close to restaurants, Captain Curt's, Big Water Fish Market were our favorites. Used trolley often, Frog Hop & Eddie's limo service were all great. Had Walmart deliver food & beverages. Took trolley to Village Plaza and Frog to Drum Circle. Did not call on any maint issues, we didn't want to wait for anyone and didn't want anyone in condo when we were not there.

October 2018 Stay

Always a pleasure to come back to the HOS! Unit 512 is not on our favorite list. The best thing is the view. The furniture was worn. Sat on the couch and sunk into a hole. New dining table but strange light fixture, hung in an awkward way, that my husband banged his head on repeatedly. BOTH Bathrooms in serious need of updating!!! We had that same tile in a rehab 30 years ago! Master toilet need attention, constant water run and random flushing, probably just in need of a flapper seal. Appears the grout and caulk can't even come clean. Electrical receptacle in between the closets would not hold a plug. Plug just kept falling out of receptacle. $19 Mr. Coffee with a broken basket that was hard to get on. Our stay was nice, we love it there, but some of these owners need to step up their units! 512 is one of them! Front desk crew was wonderful and as always a pleasure to deal with! Could see the hall was getting a new coat of paint, Nice! Grounds look fantastic! Thank you for having us!
