"We really enjoyed our stay at Aoraki Mountain Lodge. The property is older, but it is well maintained, comfortable, and offered excellent value for the price. The location is very convenient, especially given the limited number of accommodations and services available in Mount Cook Village.
The staff were friendly, welcoming, and very accommodating throughout our stay. We also loved the cozy bed-and-breakfast atmosphere, which felt warm and inviting after a day of hiking and exploring. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and provided a great night’s sleep after long days on the trails.
One thing I wish I had known before arriving is that there is a fully equipped shared kitchen and lounge area upstairs. Food options in the village are quite limited, so being aware of this ahead of time would have allowed us to bring groceries and make better use of the kitchen. Future guests may want to plan accordingly.
The lodge was a perfect base for our day hikes and stargazing tour. If I had one item on my wish list, it would be a hot tub with mountain views—especially during the winter months. The scenery is spectacular, and that would make an already enjoyable stay even more memorable.
Overall, a comfortable, well-priced lodge with great staff, a welcoming atmosphere, and an excellent location for experiencing Aoraki/Mount Cook."
"It would be helpful to have a easy to see sign somewhere to let the customers know where to check in. I drove around and went to a different business then got advised that need to go to the hotel reception to check in.
The outdoor areas could be better for a place with that price range.
Indoor was good enough.
Overall experience was good."
"Small room but we just had the one night. Enjoyed the balcony with stunning views of the mountains. The buffet dining was good quality as was the breakfast. The restaurant staff were really friendly & provided great service. We had to wait an hour after our check in time to have our room due to cleaning staff running behind; however we asked for a later check out & they obliged which was much appreciated."
"We had a cozy suite upstairs with views of the mountains. The bed was so comfortable & the heating worked well including an electric blanket & towel rail. The kitchen downstairs with continental breakfast was also more than we expected. The staff were also lovely. The small town had 3 restaurants & a cafe. We would stay there again & would also recommend."
"Perfect for what we needed -- which was a place to rest in between hikes. The shared bathrooms could have been a little cleaner -- but overall no complaints. In line with what we expected."
