A restful stay in the historic rural area of Sodwalls village
The former Rockfield Inn (now Sodwalls Inn) is located in the village of Sodwalls on the Tarana Sodwalls Road, about 20 kilometres west of Lithgow. It is a well-preserved early colonial Georgian inn and residence constructed in 1856 and overlooks the local farmlands, western railway and creeks. There is a heritage cemetery, which was for the railway construction camp in the 1860s and a former quarry within the boundaries. This new apartment is situated near the former inn. It is upstairs and has a bedroom with a queen sized bed, bathroom and open area with the kitchen, lounge and dining areas and a balcony with views over the valley. The apartment is air conditioned with double glazed windows. There is a garage downstairs. You can spend your time at the property exploring the 200 acres of granite country with its abundant wildlife including kangaroos, wombats, echidnas and amazing diversity of birds, visit the historic cemetery and the old quarry. Local attractions are Lake Lyall and the villages of Rydal and Tarana and Oberon, Mayfield Gardens and Jenolan Caves can be visited as day trips and it is a two hour drive to Mudgee. Guests can eat at the local pubs at Tarana and Rydal villages and the cafe at Tarana.
