"Very smooth check-in. The place was really beautiful. The location was good, too. Quick walk to the red brick area. 20 minute walk to the ropeway. We were there in June, and didn't need to use the fire place, but the smell of woodsmoke was there. "This was the perfect stay for our one night in Hakodate, but wish we could have staying longer to explore the city and enjoy this wonderful hotel! The amenities are top notch, from the private and public onsen, to the complimentary drinks and snacks, to the beautiful and comfortable rooms. Breakfast is such an array of Japanese food and loved the late night ramen. Such a nice way to unwind after a day of train travel. Really enjoyed the views from the property and truly felt relaxed here."

"I personally have an issue with noisy walkers, so if your on the first floor you'll definitely hear people stomping through their room from above. Our room was okay. We had a bathroom, but was surprised in two ways. I thought upon entry there was no bathroom because of the layout (small). But there was a door that led to a bathroom that was a pretty good size. It needs a little bit of update, but it worked well. I'm american and the windows were cool. I didn't realize how it worked until checkout time. There's an inner set of windows directly in your room. Then there's a second set of windows that you have to open in order to get fresh or cool air into the room. The first set of windows were somewhat European and then the second outer set I guess maybe Japanese. My first time, but that was cool."

"We only stayed one night and did not get the chance to enjoy all that the hotel has to offer, but very much enjoyed our stay. The staff at reception at check in, check out and when we asked for some help about getting to our evening activity were all great. Very helpful, happy and friendly. They spoke very good English too, which was very helpful as our Japanese is limited to the very basic, polite phrases. While we didn’t have a chance to use it, we had a look at the lounge, at and it had great views (and free coffee machine). Also free coffee machine in the foyer for guest use. Close to station, so very easy to get around. Also easy to find. Morning market only a block away too. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if we came back to Hakodate. Special thanks to the staff for being so welcoming."
