This Alpine retreat is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. It offers sweeping, in-your-face views of the Cimarrons to the east and 13-14,000 peaks of the San Juan range to the south.

The home is perfect for families, couples, or groups of friends. It includes 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a great room, a game room, and a dining room spread over two stories. Upstairs offers expansive views and includes a master bedroom, kitchen, and great room. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook your favorite meals, including pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and appliances. It is well-provisioned with non-perishables, including quality spices/seasonings, cooking oil, sugar, and flour. The large deck offers stunning views of the mountains and is perfect for enjoying a morning cup of coffee, afternoon barbeque, or a glass of wine at sunset.

Downstairs includes 2 bedrooms, a well-stocked game room, and a full bath. A washer and dryer are in a separate laundry room. All bedrooms are equipped with humidifiers to help ensure your comfort in the dry mountain air.

The home is in a quiet neighborhood, just minutes from hiking and off-road trails. While secluded, it is readily accessible to the valley below. Downtown Ridgway has restaurants, shops, and groceries and is about 8 miles (20 minutes) on a well-maintained dirt and gravel road. Charming Ouray is a 30-minute drive through the spectacular Uncompahgre River valley.

You will feel like you are on top of the world. If you are lucky, you’ll see an afternoon shower, followed by clouds in the valley below and a double rainbow! At 8,900 feet elevation, the home offers breathtaking alpine beauty, ample groves of Aspens, and abundant wildlife. You will likely see plenty of deer, including those visiting in the front yard. You may also see bobcats, bald eagles, coyotes, elk, or even glimpse a black bear. In the quiet of the mountains, you may connect with the gentle sounds of nature and, on a clear night, see the night sky in all its wonder.

The house is heated by an electric-powered hydronic radiant heating system, which is both efficient and environmentally friendly. The electricity for the heating system is generated by solar panels on the roof, so you can feel good knowing that you're helping to reduce your carbon footprint on your vacation. The house is super well insulated and was constructed using green building practices, such as using recycled materials and energy-efficient appliances.

Great mountain escape

Really enjoyed our time at this property. It’s in a quiet neighborhood about 20 minutes from Ridgway. Fully stocked with towels, sheets, kitchen accessories and a grill for you to stay there all day if desired. Great views of the mountains all around!

Great house for family with adult children

The house was beautiful and was perfect for our needs with adult children. The bathrooms were readily accessible and the bedrooms provided the needed privacy for our family. The views off the deck were beautiful.

Fantastic view!

We spent three nights during the turning of the Aspens to bright yellows. The view from the deck is beautiful and can be seen inside in the family room or outside on the deck. Very comfortable home and communication with the owner was very easy. Would stay again.

Beautiful home with beautiful views.

I don’t think we could have found a better home with a better location. Yes the drive was a little further from the main road than I expected but it made for perfect quiet nights under the stars. When coming back to this area I will definitely book this property again if its available.

Great escape

Perfect location for a private getaway. It snowed while we were in residence which made this straw bale house even cozier. Great view of Mt Sneffles when the clouds parted. We will visit again

Family Wedding

Spectacular Experience

One of the most beautiful places our group has done our annual reunion. Woke up to a wide expanse of the glacier carved San Juan Mountains seen right from the balcony. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook, the beds were so incredibly comfy, and the right amount of secluded to do a campfire and still be driveable to the town of Ridgway to pick up what we needed. Amazing experience!

Family Winter Holiday

This house was fabulous! We loved the comfortable, clean, cozy feel of the house. The kitchen was well equipped for all of our cooking needs. The area is beautiful! The only issue we had was finding it at night and dealing with the ice and snow on the roads leading to the house. Our truck did fine, the rental car did not make it up the driveway. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely stay in this house again!

Idyllic house in the mountains

Around 15’ away from the nearest town, tucked away in the mountains, this property was better than expected. We crossed path with deer daily, a small family of 3 would show up at the front of the house every morning. The place is very spacious, well stocked, perfect layout to keep the teens downstairs with their own bathroom and TV/video game room. Although we didn’t need help from Bill, he was checking in us every other day and was fast to reply. We would definitely come back. The road (specially in winter) might not be suitable for cars that are not 4x4.

Bring snow tires

Very beautiful home. Adobe construction. Built recently, not sure when. Honestly, the driveway was the biggest obstacle. They told me it was very steep and they were right. I have a four wheel drive vehicle but no snow tires. I had forgotten that in the Colorado rockies it is still winter in March. That's on me though. But great piece of land, great views and felt completely at home right away. Will definitely try to get back some day. Just remember to book in the summer!!

What a stunning view of the mountains! We loved returning to such a wonderful place each day of our stay. The home is comfortable and spacious upstairs with views right out the main windows. The kitchen is well supplied and we enjoyed the board games available too. Bill was very helpful throughout our stay with any additional information and support. We would love to stay here again if ever back in southwestern Colorado.

Open, spacious, well-featured! Perfect for accompanying Ouray hut to hut system hike! There were 7 women and we each had our own space and bed! The city of Ridgeway was not far and Ridgeway had great restaurants to facilitate our stay around the dehydrated food we mostly ate on the hike! Fantastic views!! And wildlife!!!

Excellent, plan was to bike in Telluride and swim in Ouray. I could have stayed on the porch all day admiring the views and watching wildlife. House was very well furnished. Admired the straw bale construction and solar heat/energy.

Amazing views from an amazing place!

This place, WOW! I can't say enough about the views. We came from northern Wisconsin for Ouray, but honestly, ridgeway and this house was some of the highlights of our trip. The house was clean, HUGE, and had everything needed. Plenty of driveway space and the home owner was always readily available for questions as well. We would absolutely stay again.

Breathtaking views

Overall, we absolutely loved the house. If you’re looking for peace and tranquility, this is the place to pick , the stargazing at night was incredible. It does take about 20 minutes to get to the town of Ridgeway due to the terrain. The house is very close to a lot of different trail systems and activities. The property manager got back to me promptly with any question I had. I felt this house was an excellent location if you want to hike Ouray and Telluride. I would definitely stay here again.

Serene Stay

This space was perfect for our 4 day getaway to Ouray and Telluride. It was an easy drive to the home from Denver and we had no issues getting to the activities and events we had planned, including the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. There are spectacular views of the mountains from every window. We also greatly enjoyed watching the neighborhood wildlife from the deck each morning. The property itself is spacious, clean, and stocked with everything you could need to cook. We were really impressed with the amount of thought and care that the owners put in to making sure guests have a comfortable stay. We definitely hope we can stay here again the next time we are in the area!

Beautiful Place Overlooking the Mountains!

Very nice property. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need. We mostly stayed there and cooked our own meals. The views were awesome. The house was very roomy for the four of us.

Gorgeous mountain views!

We loved staying at this beautiful Elk Meadows house. It was a great base to explore the mountains and a cozy home to return to at the end of the day. I'll continue to dream about the mountain views and stargazing long after our trip.
