The Thomaston Colored Institute, aka Thomaston Academy, is a historic African American school building in the town of Thomaston, Alabama, United States. This two-story brick building was completed in 1910 as a private school by an African-American religious group, the West Alabama Primitive Baptist Association. The school served a historic African American neighborhood in Thomaston, as the only real educational opportunity for the area’s African-American population. This building has been abandoned since the 1970s, and has suffered from benign neglect. "I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights for my employees and they got to the hotel around 6:00pm and was told they had 1 room with one bed and the bathroom was broken and couldn’t use it! For three adult men after working all day. They said sorry go somewhere else even though I already prepaid! "

"I had reserved a king smoking room. I called the morning of the reservation to double check the reservation and was assured that I was indeed going to get that room. We we arrived we were told that I had explicitly asked for non-smoking. We showed the gentleman the confirmation on hotels.com and he refused to honor the smoking room."

Near Hospital, Historic Downtown Camden & Alabama River!

"This was very close to where we needed to go. I wish I'd had the time to go to the Gee's Bend Quilt Museum and stroll the main street of Camden. We had a quick dinner a delightful place with their celebrated "C-O-B" (Chicken On Bun" and got ready for our event. Only thing I'd change is getting some filtered water available. Worked out great!"
